Ensure Quality and Consistency in NMET Transportation for Modiviecare Members
The Issue
I am Troye Johnson, a concerned citizen and representative of Gokart Transportation. I am compelled to voice our seriousness about the quality and reliability of transportation for members of Modiviecare. Recently, all ambulatory services have been shifted to Uber and Lyft which has significantly impacted the level of service expected from them. This is not merely a grievance about change, but a concern for the well-being and respect for our community members who deserve better.
One such member has experienced several instances where her scheduled rides have been abruptly cancelled, resulting in missed vital appointments. An even more distressing account is an audio call from a husband whose wife was left without any means of transportation, forcing her to miss her essential dialysis appointment.
Even more worrying is that this situation is not exceptional, but it's becoming an alarming norm. As a society, we have a responsibility to ensure that the most vulnerable among us receive reliable and consistent service, even more so when it comes to matters of health.
Moreover, this abrupt shift to ride-hailing services is a distressing disruption for the long-serving transportation providers. These professional companies have reliably served the community for years, offering an unmatched level of service and professionalism that mass-market alternatives simply aren't providing.
We can do better for the countless individuals impacted by this decision. The consequences are real and they are severe - missed appointments can mean delayed treatments, and for some, it can have life-altering effects. In the light of these real and pressing concerns, we call upon the decision-makers of this process to reevaluate the shift of all ambulatory services to Uber and Lyft, and explore alternate or supplemental solutions.
Also Members should be able to choose the transportation they prefer as long as the providers they want are credential legal and willing to take them. People are being forced to take transportation that does not meet their needs or make them comfortable and this in it self can create dangerous situations where passangers are scared and not feeling safe.
We also call upon the law makers to make things fair and even between rides share companies and non medical emergency transportation companies same insurance policies same inspections same requirements. So that we can keep a competitive market and provide better service to our community.
Please sign this petition to uphold the dignity and respect for our community members and ensure they receive the professional and reliable transportation service they deserve. Your support can make a difference.
