Stop Crime and RV Parking everywhere in WA!
The Issue
Many areas in Washington State such as Lynnwood, Snohomish County, and Downtown Seattle, have now become some of the worst places to live in America. And it keeps getting worse. These issues affect and pertain to you and to all Washington State's residents.
Did you know that, per publicly available FBI and Law Enforcement data you can Google yourself, Lynnwood and Snohomish areas have now some of the highest crime rates in America? Every time you go outside, you now have 1 in 19 chances of becoming a victim of a serious crime! Just Google "Lynnwood safety rating" and see for yourself.
Daily, Lynwood and Snohomish County residents must cope with:
- Very loud motorcycle gangs driving around like crazy at extremely high speeds, tagging and vandalizing fences and houses with their gang graffiti.
- Thugs smoking Marijuana parked inside their cars in public and residential streets, on edge, next to homes that belong to scared families with little kids. These thugs get out of their cars and aggressively confront anyone looking at them and threatening them with violence, terrorizing home owners. And they know where people live, so if you call the police on them, they might come back for retribution.
- Homeless, drug addicts, and sex offenders stealing shopping carts and dropping trash everywhere on the streets every day.
- RVs taking over the residential streets in any neighborhood as they please, littering, leaving trash, motor oil, human waste, and stolen goods all over the place, parking illegally all the time, and blocking the view to incoming traffic in narrow streets, leading to accidents.
- Continuous parking violations in no-parking zones and fire lanes! Violations allowed to continue every.single.day with no real consequences.
And these issues are spreading like wildfire to all WA areas.
ENOUGH!
The situation feels already out of control, and it keeps getting worse! Violators currently get a slap on the wrist, they rarely get arrested, and they go back to committing crimes the moment the Police leaves the scene.
The Police force appears to be overwhelmed as of late, they seem unable to keep up with rampant crime in the area. But there is so much the Police can do if they continue to be understaffed and operating under the very weak, very bad Washington State's laws that we currently have -- WA laws that make it nearly impossible for Law Enforcement to have any teeth, laws in favor of the criminals instead of in favor of everyone, including law-abiding citizens and the Police!
WHAT ARE OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS DOING? WHAT ARE THEY WAITING FOR? DEMAND URGENT CHANGE!
We "the people" respectfully request The Snohomish Police Dept., The District Attorney, the WA State Representatives, the Snohomish City Council, all branches of Government, and anyone else who this might concern and/or be in position of authority to take immediate action to curb and abate the rampant crime and chaos in the Lynnwood / Snohomish County areas, and in WA in general.
PROPOSALS:
- Ban RV parking on residential streets and narrow roads in Lynnwood and Snohomish areas. Many RV dwellers are honest people trying to survive, zero issue with them. I am against the ones that just bring crime and leave trash everywhere, and park in non-parking zones all the time, obstructing traffic and causing hazardous traffic conditions. The current BAD law that we have in WA State currently allow RVs to park nearly anywhere they want for 24 hours. So, they park, and each day move an inch, and just continue living on the same street permanently. They "play" the system. They know communities and police have little recourse due to bad WA laws. So they go in caravans (multiple RVs and cars) all related and invade. They abuse the system and mock the Police. Why are RVs allowed to take anything they want whenever they want with no consequences? Why are they allowed to appropriate of and destroy our neighborhoods?
- Arrest repeat offenders, have their vehicles impounded. It does not make sense to waste the limited Police resources that we have dealing with the same offenders over and over... Just because Police is not allowed to keep track of repeat violators. Repeat violators and criminals must be warned, then ticketed, and eventually arrested and put away if they keep breaking the law!
- Relocate RVs and homeless to other areas. Those who break the law repeatedly and are unwilling or unable to respect the communities where they reside and work hard to earn an honest living, pay taxes, and contribute to society like everyone else does -- what gives them the right to take over our neighborhoods and make them theirs? They need to be moved out to other areas with proper sanitation and resources, not regular residential streets.
- Arrest anyone stealing shopping carts or merchandise already! There are alternatives to stealing. There are food banks. There is help for those in need. And more can and should be done. But stealing shopping carts and merchandise, and dumping trash everywhere, that's not okay.
- Increase and enforce penalties for graffiti and damage, destruction of private property. Graffiti defaces and devalues our neighborhoods completely and adds extra costs to communities to have to repaint and repair all the time.
- Arrest thugs consuming marijuana in public and inside parked vehicles in residential areas! Want to smoke Marijuana? Great, do it in the privacy of your own home, not in public, not in your car parked on the road -- that's already illegal! Families should not have to live in fear because these thugs break the law and know where the good families live.
- Increase the Police Presence in Lynnwood and Snohomish County -- at least tenfold! Have Police always patrol the area, including at night! Criminals should be very afraid of the Police, not the other way around.
- Change the Laws for Zero Tolerance for Crime and for Repeat Violators! Stop criminals from playing and abusing the system and wasting society's resources!
- Remove all the abandoned or permanently parked junk cars from Admiralty Way and 145th St SW already! This area must not be allowed to continue to be a wasteland! Police needs to ticket improperly parked vehicles in the area, and eventually get them removed if no response to warnings and tickets.
- Stop making it so easy and so appealing for criminals and homeless to relocate, invade, and inhabit our communities! We are all human beings, so we need to be fair and compassionate on those down on their luck and provide them for opportunities for them to earn their living and prosper. Help people, provide opportunities, jobs, food, shelter, and support. But for those abusing the system, for those choosing that lifestyle, for repeat offenders, for criminals... throw the book at those already!
- Increase Parking Violations tenfold! Instead of the RIDICULOUS Parking Violation Penalties that we currently have in Snohomish County -- Twenty dollars for most parking violations !? Hard working, honest people living here in Lynnwood and Snohomish County contribute to society and pay through the nose already in taxes including property taxes. How come then anyone who decides not to contribute can still go and live permanently in our communities too? How come hard-working families cannot have security and justice whatsoever in their own neighborhoods?
What gives RV / Motor Homes the right to take over public roads and live permanently in any community they want and for as long as they want? How is that fair to everyone else paying so much already to live in our communities?
Why are homeless, RVs, and criminals allowed to invade, abuse, and criminalize our communities at their leisure with no consequences? I am not talking about honest people down on their luck (I am on their side too!), I am talking about the ones that keep breaking the law and contribute nothing but garbage and crime to our communities -- why are those allowed to continue doing so permanently in our communities? Why aren't those relocated or arrested as appropriate already?
And why is our Police force, who risk their lives daily to serve and protect our communities for so little, does not get MUCH more help and support they both need and deserve already?
** WE NEED: **
1. MUCH BETTER, TOUGHER LAWS protecting and supporting our brave Police Force -AND- Law-Abiding Citizens and their property from theft and vandalism!
2. MUCH MORE POLICE presence and support! Much better LAW Enforcement.
3. RVs, homeless camps, gangs, and junk vehicles removed from the area regularly and prevented from returning! Parking in residential streets blocking the view to incoming traffic due to very large size of most RVs, where there is no services, no water, no sanitation, nowhere to dispose waste properly, it is just not right. RVs need to park elsewhere where appropriate for RVs.
And in general, WA Laws and policies need to stop favoring and accommodating junkies, criminals, and homeless people refusing to improve and help themselves -- they feel too comfortable in here! If anyone feels so compassionate about criminals, RVs, sex offenders, homeless, and gangs, you are welcome to take them with you and have them living on your street! Provide opportunities and reward honest people trying to progress and stop enabling, legalizing, and normalizing crime with weak, ineffective laws and policies.
We need Justice, equality, and opportunities for all -- especially for those who want to work and EARN their living. We must stop the handouts and the local Affordable/Free Housing (at Taxpayer's Expense!) to be given to those who might need it but do nothing to deserve it. All while crime continues to rise, police continues to lack proper funding, and criminals are emboldened and allowed back on the streets in no time all the time! We need to reward those honest people that try to improve, not criminals!
Want to help honest people down on their luck? Give them proper places to park with sanitation. Give them jobs for them to build and earn their own houses ELSEWHERE they can afford, like everyone else does, with dignity and hard work, instead of giving them handouts and *LOCAL* Housing in neighborhoods they do not appreciate nor deserve. Do not reward nor allow those who bring crime, litter, and destruction to the value and safety of the homes and our communities!
America is supposed to be the land of opportunity, where social justice exists and where poor and oppressed can find opportunity and freedom to progress. It is *NOT* supposed to be the land of the handouts and injustice where only the wealthy and privileged can remain isolated from the social issues affecting everyone else in our communities!
Washington State's weak, ineffective, bad laws and policies that we currently have around these chronic issues are destroying our entire economies and communities! Look no further than Lynnwood, Snohomish, downtown Seattle, and even California (with similar failed policies) where stores keep closing down and people and businesses keep moving away because of the unabated, rampant crime and homelessness crisis continue to be allowed to expand unchecked in the area.

PS: I am just a regular citizen, parent, and friendly nearby neighbor just like you — I work, I support my family, I pay the very numerous and very high taxes in WA State... I am not affiliated to any Political Party, and I am not doing this for Profit or for any reason other than demanding URGENT CHANGE and SAFETY for all in Washington State.

All I am asking is for our elected officials and law makers to acknowledge these issues, to open the door to dialog, to be more transparent, and to come up with a plan and timelines for the much needed urgent change and solutions needed by everyone in our communities, including our most vulnerable, least privileged ones. 2023-07-23 UPDATE: I would like to thank the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office. They heard the complaints, and that they have started more intense, directed patrolling and parking enforcing in the area. I am seeing more Police patrolling the area than before. I truly hope their efforts to increase safety in the area continue, it seems to be working and helping.
