Inhumane Conditions at Federal Correctional Facilities

Inhumane Conditions at Federal Correctional Facilities
The Issue
My fiancé is currently incarcerated at the Coleman Medium Federal Correctional Facility. Every day, he faces conditions that are nothing short of inhumane and deplorable. They're locked down almost 24 hours a day owing to claims of a 'short-staffed' environment. This should not be the fate of any human being, no matter their circumstances.
During his first three days at the facility, my fiancé was thrown into a cell without basic necessities – no blankets, no clean clothes, no hygiene products. This isn't just his story, but a narrative shared by countless others enduring similar dire conditions. In these facilities, they are provided with just one hot meal a day. The facility has no air conditioning, making living conditions unbearable, especially during the summer months. It's as if their dignity has been completely disregarded.
It’s been almost 3 weeks my fiance has been at Coleman medium he has yet to been able to order clothes , shoes , food , etc. because they don’t have the supplies / food in their canteen supply.
These federal correctional facilities are not just failing to provide adequate living conditions, but they're also failing to meet basic human rights. Many times, these men and women do not participate in the First Step Act (FSA) programs because of the staffing shortages which further hinders their rehabilitation process.
It's imperative that we spotlight these issues and push for reforms that will ensure better care and living conditions in federal correctional facilities. Comprehensive plans need to be implemented to guarantee that every inmate receives nutritious meals, sufficient hygiene products, proper air-conditioning, adequately maintained facilities, and access to rehabilitation programs.
I urge you all to stand with us to fight for the rights of those who are vulnerable and voiceless within these prison walls. Let us not turn a blind eye to their suffering and demand humane living conditions. Please sign this petition and help us bring about essential reform.
