Install traffic light/crosswalk at Waterloo Rd, Golden Bell Way, and Old Stockbridge Dr.

The Issue

The intersection between Waterloo Road, Old Stockbridge Drive, and Golden Bell Way has cause many issues recently, ranging from increased commute time, increased chances for car accidents, and abnormal probabilities for pedestrians to be hit by a car. All of these problems stem from the fact that there is no crosswalk or stoplight at this central and vital intersection. There would be many benefits to installing a traffic-light and crosswalk here, and they even extend beyond safety.

Perhaps the largest and most prominent concern with this intersection is safety hazards. If someone is turning off of Old Stockbridge Drive and taking a left onto Waterloo Road, not only does the driver have to cross a large section of road where cars are constantly driving by at a speed noticeably over the limit, but they have to turn on a road where cars are at a even faster pace. This increases the potential for a car crash by over five percent. Along with this, the long wait time to take a left onto this road can seriously extend commute times, causing more job-tardiness. This can slightly decrease the number of hired civilians in the area, causing a slight decrease in economy health.

To add to the hazards, because the only viable crosswalk is over one kilometre away (0.64 Miles), which is an even more dangerous location, most people are forced to jaywalk across this road with an average width of  22.16 Metres (72.7 Feet). All while cars are speeding by at dangerous rates. This can decrease safety greatly, but it can also decrease tourism as it is harder to travel around the area easily, as a car is needed just to cross Waterloo Road. If a crosswalk and traffic light are added, it would greatly increase safety for everyone, improve commute times, and allow easier travel between neighborhoods.
