Every year about 10000 new children are diagnosed with cancer in Pakistan. There are only 4 private and 4 public sector childhood cancer centres in our country. We have only 26 paediatric oncologists to serve these patients. All the centres are located in Punjab and Karachi and all paediatric oncologists are working in these centres. Most of the cancer children come from KPK and Balochistan (far more than Punjab and Sindh in proportion to their population) where there are no childhood cancer services available to these patients. 

Indus Hospital & Health Network started a paediatric oncology unit in Quetta at Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Hospital Quetta as public private partnership in August 2021. I, Dr Syed Ali Shazif Baqari, became the first paediatric oncologist to serve Baloch and Afghan cancer children in this unit and in Balochistan. However, in December 2021, I was terminated from my job on false allegation of assault. It was done with an intent based on dishonesty because I had pointed out at serious financial irregularities being done in my unit and alleged sexual assault of one of my female patients. As a matter of fact I was assaulted and badly abused by one of my junior colleagues on my last working day. Indus Hospital HR inquiry committee failed to  conduct a fair trial and a biased decision of my termination was made.

As a result of my termination, I am not able to find any job in Pakistan or abroad and I am unemployed since December 2021. Apart from Indus Hospital & Health Network, I suspect that Pakistan Army and ISI personnel are involved in my persistent unemployment. This is because I am a blogger and v logger and a strong critic of establishment's interference in Pakistan's political, geographical and socioeconomic affairs.

I request people of Pakistan to raise voice for justice with me. I also request federal and provincial governments and Dr Abdul Bari CEO Indus Hospital & Health Network to take notice of this injustice and restore me on my job. I need no financial support from anyone at all. I just want to serve people of Balochistan once again who badly need a paediatric oncologist as authorities have failed to find my replacement.
