Allow Grants for Sustainable Forest Management With Cattle.

Allow Grants for Sustainable Forest Management With Cattle.
The Issue
Government Grant and cost-share money should be made available to support forest management with cattle. Forests are an essential part of our ecosystem, and they play a crucial role providing habitat for biodiversity of wildlife and in mitigating climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. However, forests are often threatened by wildfires, invasive species, and other factors that can lead to their destruction.
Cattle grazing can be an effective tool for managing forests and reducing the risk of wildfires. Grazing can help control invasive species that compete with native plants for resources and create fuel for fires. Grazing has been shown to significantly reduce undesired plants and significantly increased plant species richness. It can also help reduce the amount of dry brush on the forest floor, which is a major contributor to wildfires.
Studies have shown that forestry management practices that receive government grant money, such as herbicide application, has a huge negative impact on on reptiles, birds, and mammals. For example, a study in conducted in Oregon showed that the use of herbicides in forest management was linked to depopulation of 46% of bird species.
Grant money should be made available for forest management with cattle because it is a cost-effective solution that benefits both the environment, farmers and local communities. By supporting this petition, you are helping promote sustainable forestry practices, that will benefit future generations.
