SEGA & Atlus: Persona 5 The Phantom X Needs an English Dub—It's Not a Luxury!!!
The Issue
For years, I've been a passionate fan of the Persona series, immersing myself in the expansive worlds and intricate narratives that Sega and Atlus deliver so brilliantly. Yet, with the release of Persona 5 The Phantom X, I've found myself and many Western players disheartened by the lack of an English dub. This isn't just about preference—it's about accessibility and equality.
Western fans, like myself, continuously invest in these types of games, often spending premium money on gacha features. In return, we expect a premium experience akin to what we've seen in widely popular games like Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact. These games have set a standard with their English dubbing that allows players worldwide to fully experience the game’s narrative without language barriers.
The absence of an English dub excludes players with visual impairments or reading difficulties, who struggle to keep up with fast-paced combat subtitles. These subtitles are not always compatible with text-to-speech programs, making it virtually impossible for some to enjoy the game’s story. By not providing an English dub, SEGA and Atlus are inadvertently building barriers that prevent a significant part of their audience from experiencing the game equally.
It's crucial to understand that embracing accessibility isn't a luxury, but a necessity. We urge SEGA and Atlus to consider the broader implications of their decision and align themselves with the industry standards that modern players have come to expect. Providing an English dub for Persona 5 The Phantom X will not only enhance the gaming experience for countless fans but will also demonstrate a commitment to inclusivity and equal accessibility.
And I am practicing my English voice of Runa Dogenzaka, Manaka Nagao, & Merope, to help people understand what they’re daying in English.
Let's unite and send a clear message to SEGA and Atlus: A premium game deserves a premium, accessible dub. Sign this petition if you believe that every fan should have the chance to engage fully with Persona 5 The Phantom X.
