All Homeless in the UK to be Housed or Sheltered
The Issue
Apply real action to home and shelter all the homeless in the UK.
Use the army of volunteers and volunteer organisations to assist if necessary to expedited the process.
Actions Points:
1- Shelter the homeless in b&b or hotels now without prejudice.
2- House first, pay later backed by the government.
3- Create shared living accommodations.
4- Government to back landlords who can enable and assist.
1. Shelter the Homeless now
This can be immediately implemented to stop rough sleeping. Use B&B's and hotels to immediately and without further delays all the homeless.
2. House first, pay later guarantee
Give hotels and b&b's guarantees, government backed so nobody has to wait on long bureaucratic process. Get the homeless in and registered. Work on catching up with the paperwork and the benefit system afterwards so nobody is victimised.
3. Create shared living accommodations.
To transition form hotels to shared living accommodations. Let landlords tender for this as they have expertise to fulfil this quickly. Look for really low cost accommodation, shared facilities and services and bills included in one single payment. This is crucial to allow people to settle in and easily budget.
4. Government to back landlords who can help.
Landlords who can enable this roll-out to make current accommodation available as a first priority, consider converting to HMOs or other shared living spaces. Provide incentives and use the house first, pay later guarantee. Work across the supply chain: local governments, landlords, commercial mortgage lenders, by providing simple yet clear directives to solve the homeless crisis.
