Demand Transparency Regarding Elderly Deaths in Hospitals Due to Negligence

The Issue

This cry for justice embarks from a deeply personal experience. My mother, a woman of strength and vitality, was failed by the very system designed to protect her. While ready for discharge in the hospital, she was dropped and left unattended. The negligence led to a displaced fractured sternum, one that was only diagnosed after she had already suffered unnecessarily for days. Following this, she was prescribed a long-term care drug, without undergoing mandatory pre-infusion tests. Tragically, two doses were infused into her  body, ending her life after four days of agonizing pain. The worst part is they knew they had given her an overdose and an antidote was available , and they simply covered it up and let her die rather than admit what they had done.

We cannot stand by as more innocent lives are lost to a system characterized by apathy and incompetence. In the UK, 43% of all reported patient safety incidents result in harm or death, and 16% of these are specific to the elderly (reference to National Health Service data). We demand a thorough investigation into such negligence and a commitment to change from the healthcare system. We cannot turn a blind eye to those whose lives are cut short due to medical negligence.

Sign this petition for my mother, and for every elderly person who has suffered. Let us ensure no other family has to endure such heart-wrenching loss. Together, we can fight for transparency and accountability in our healthcare system, and demand the safety our loved ones deserve.
