The Issue

We, the undersigned, are deeply concerned about the recent actions of former World Chess Champion Vladimir Kramnik, who has begun falsely accusing highly respected chess players such as Hikaru Nakamura, Daniel Naroditsky, José Martínez, and many others of cheating. These baseless accusations, coming from a figure of Kramnik’s stature, are damaging to the reputations of innocent players and the integrity of the chess community.

What makes this situation more disheartening is the recognition that Kramnik isn't just a regular player, but a celebrated Chess Champion who seems to be abusing his status to mislead the community. He ought to be a figure of integrity and sportsmanship. However, his actions appear to be based primarily on serving his popularity rather than upholding the values inherent in chess, are far from commendable.

It's clear that this misuse of power can erode trust in the chess community and risks overshadowing the extraordinary contributions that these unfairly accused players have made. The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has a duty to protect its members from such unwarranted abuse, especially when it is coming from a figure who has a great influence over the community.

By signing this petition, we call on the international chess organizations to take action and consider revoking Vladimir Kramnik’s title as World Chess Champion in response to his unethical conduct. Thousands of chess players and fans all over the world are looking upon them to uphold justice and integrity in this historical game. It is imperative that we protect the integrity of chess and ensure that no one, regardless of their past achievements, is allowed to tarnish the reputation of others without evidence.

We believe that it is essential to uphold the principles of fair play, respect, and integrity within the chess community. By removing Mr. Kramnik's title, we can send a powerful message that false accusations and malicious behavior have no place in our sport.

Join us in standing against false accusations in chess and supporting the dignity of all players.
