COVID-19 (coronavirus) is still in exponential growth in Australia. We can save thousands of lives by going full on immediately rather than responding to each case jump with another inadequate response.

Until the new case rate declines significantly, COAG ministers should be called on to

• Close schools except for children of medical staff for 14 days and review
• Require two weeks leave to be taken for all permanent staff at school holidays (which should be brought forward) [may be limited to zero balance, a negative balance would require legislation]
• Require all those in the workforce except essential services with excess leave, to take at least 2 days of accrued leave each week.
• Set out to test everyone in priority order starting with anyone regularly coming into contact with over 60s
• Introduce drive through testing
• Provide support for home delivery of prescriptions, food.
• Allow doctors to prescribe repeat prescriptions for pharmacists to supply without patients needing to attend.
• Cruise ships may only offload persons proceeding directly to leave Australia or to return home to mandated self-isolation for 14 days.
• Require face mask to be worn in public once sufficient supply is available
• Seek volunteers to try accelerated clinical trials with appropriate self-isolation
