The Issue

On display at the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE), animals are shown bedded in straw and seemingly comfortable living conditions. But this is a facade.

I bear witness to the concealed truth about the treatment of animals in Canada.

Having been inside pig farms, I've seen the dire conditions they endure.

I've seen pigs, cows, and chickens on their way to slaughterhouses, the sight of them up close is heartbreaking.

I've stood beside the gas chambers where pigs were lowered, their lungs burnt by the gas. They scream and writhe around as they lose consciousness.

Yet this grim reality is hidden from the wider Canadian population.

The majority of animals in Canada live in confinement and in miserable conditions - a stark contrast to the image portrayed at the CNE.

The truth is, millions of animals are killed for food in Canada each year, with most of them living their short lives on factory farms in crowded, filthy conditions. It's time to bring this dark reality to light.

We should not be lured into a false sense of security about our consumption habits.

Let's stop the display of live animals at the Canadian National Exhibition, and encourage integrity and transparency about animal farming conditions in Canada.

It’s time to stop eating animals; time to support sanctuaries instead of the killing of innocent animals. Time to stop ignoring their suffering, and allowing their continued display at the CNE’s “FARM”.

Please sign this petition to demand respect and justice for our animals.
