Halt Amazon's Plan for a New Warehouse help us Save Endangered Species
The Issue
We, as local conservationists and small business owners in Mansfield, UK, perceive a dark cloud accumulating over our precious ecosystem with the announcement of Amazon planning to construct a new warehouse. This land is not just our livelihood, but also home to numerous endangered species we vigorously nurture and protect. From native birds to unique insects, each life form is an integral link in maintaining the balance of our local ecosystem. Our serene, spring-fed ponds are in danger, as are the vast array of fish and other aquatic life they support.
If this plan comes to fruition, the construction and subsequent functioning of such a large warehouse facility would not only fragment and possibly eliminate the unique local habitats, but would also add to pollution, both air and noise. Amazon, an international corporation that pledged to become net-zero carbon by 2040, could indeed help save the environment if it makes an intentional decision to take the well-being of local ecosystems into account when choosing its operational locations. We believe it's not too late for them to reconsider their decision and choose a location less delicate for their new warehouse.
For us, this is more than just a petition. It's about preserving what little is left for our future generations, it's about giving voice to the creatures who can't speak for themselves, and bringing accountability to corporations who should prioritize preserving the environment over increasing their operational capacities. Let's have our voices heard and put this invasive development on hold. Sign this petition to halt Amazon's planning for their new warehouse in Mansfield and save our endangered species.
We have many different species of Bat, that nest in our boxes next to the proposed site. In the brook that will be disturbed by the build are Lamprey, White Clawed Crayfish, Gold Crested Newts to name a few. All of these are endangered.
