Search for New Principal at Antonian College Prep

Search for New Principal at Antonian College Prep
The Issue
In keeping with the mission and vision statement of Antonian College Preparatory to continue to be a premier Catholic, co-educational high school, we respectfully request that the Archdiocese of San Antonio immediately conduct an open and transparent search for ACP’s next principal for the 2022-23 academic year. Our Antonian students and community deserve to have the most capable professional to lead, inspire, and empower our teachers and our young men and women to thrive, while leading meaningful lives rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Principal selection is a decision authorized to school councils. The statute in the school handbook implies that even though the superintendent (or designee) is the chair of the school council during the process of principal selection, all voices are to participate equally. No one voice is greater than the next.
A search committee should be created that will assist the Archdiocese in finding our next principal. A critical aspect of this committee involves the engagement of our school council, while soliciting input from faculty and staff members, parents, students, and alumni to ensure applicants have the leadership and experience necessary to address the present and future needs of ACP.
We appreciate our ACP community making their voices heard by signing this petition, confirming our desire to continue the process that has been in place, and establish and empower a diverse selection committee that will help bring unity to our community. Invariably, this would help foster a spirit of service and support for our new principal once chosen.
