GM - Please bring back USB Video Playback to 2022 Chevy Tahoe/Suburban, GMC Yukon/XL
The Issue
For the 2021 Model Year, GM introduced new body styles for Chevy Tahoe/Suburban, GMC Yukon/XL, and Cadillac Escalade/ESV. In the 2021 model year GM'S Rear Seat Entertainment package offered video playback through USB, HDMI, Smartphone (through Miracast), as well as showing current Map view.
For the 2022 Model Year, GM changed the whole infotainment system to Android Automotive with a Google Assistant interface. In the rush to move to Googles infotainment system, certain features are currently missing, such as USB video playback and Miracast.
Nowhere in the ordering process has anyone been notified that these features would be missing from the 2022 Model Year.
We would never have ordered this vehicle, let alone order this option for Rear Seat Entertainment without the critical feature of USB Video Playback.
The issue with the default HDMI ports offered for playback, is that you cannot control the content and playback from the front screen, If you have small children or if you have autistic persons in the vehicle it is difficult to wait 5 minutes for a Firestick/Roku/Chromecast to boot up and start streaming every time you start the vehicle. You might as well hand the rear passengers a Tablet or an iPad, there is no reason to spend $1995 for a crippled rear entertainment system.
Please call customer service as well as filing a complaint on Better Business Bureau and log a complaint for the missing USB Video Playback feature, ask for a software update to bring back USB Video Playback.
