We are Updevision — a Top Rated Plus agency on Upwork, active since 2017. Over the years, we’ve earned more than $1 million on the platform and received hundreds of 5-star reviews from satisfied clients.

In May 2025, without warning, five of our core accounts — including the agency itself and individual profiles of key team members — were suspended simultaneously. We promptly responded to Upwork’s request to verify our identities. We submitted valid passports, government-issued IDs, and bank statements with digital signatures.

Shortly after, Upwork sent us confirmation: “Your identification has been reviewed and accepted.” But instead of restoring access, all our accounts were permanently blocked — with no explanation beyond the vague label: "irregular activity."

We are not alone.

Hundreds — if not thousands — of similar cases have surfaced across the internet:

This is a systemic issue.

Upwork increasingly behaves like a closed system where freelancers and agencies — even those with long-term client relationships — are vulnerable to opaque decisions, automated flags, and irreversible bans. When real people with real businesses are treated this way, trust collapses.

We are calling on Upwork to:

• Provide clear, specific reasons for account suspensions
• Establish a transparent appeals process that allows users to respond and defend their case.
• End the practice of mass or automated bans without individual case reviews.

This petition is for every freelancer who’s afraid they could be next. Even if you’ve done nothing wrong. Even if your clients are happy. Even if your account is in perfect standing. Just like it was in our case.
