The Issue

Washington State’s Automatic Voter Registration (AVR) law, implemented in 2018, automatically registers individuals to vote when they obtain or renew a driver’s license or state ID, including non-citizens who are eligible for licenses under state law. Reports indicate insufficient safeguards to ensure only U.S. citizens are registered, with conflicting agency responsibilities between the Department of Licensing and the Secretary of State’s Office. House Joint Memorial 4007 (2025) highlights these concerns, requesting a federal audit.  We the People of WA State urge the Department of Justice to investigate whether this practice violates federal election laws, including the National Voter Registration Act, and to ensure the integrity of voter rolls. And to ensure our recent election was legitimate.
