Zone change petitions address the need for modifications in local zoning regulations to accommodate community growth, development, or preservation. Recent trends show an increase in petitions challenging zoning decisions that may negatively impact neighborhoods or environmental conservation efforts. Key issues include concerns about commercial overdevelopment, lack of affordable housing, and environmental degradation due to zoning changes.
One petition with thousands of signatures protests a proposed commercial development that could disrupt the character of a residential area. Another petition advocates for zoning changes to promote affordable housing options in high-cost urban areas, highlighting the impact of zoning decisions on social equity.
Take a stand on zoning issues by exploring and supporting petitions that align with your values. Together, we can influence zoning policies to create more sustainable and inclusive communities for future generations.
We are concerned that the underground water will be polluted and, given that we use water from water wells, it will affect our health in the long term. Let's keep polluting industries away from our homes.
100% appose this mining. The blasting from the surrounding mines has already caused structural damage to my homes windows and our property. This mining doesn’t need to get any closer to our homes or to our children’s schools. If approved there will be too many negative consequences. Vote NO!
As a local Realtor and resident of North Plainfield, I do believe this is a horrible idea for this County. This will absolutely bring down the value of our homes, will drive people out of the area, leave multiple homes vacant, and put our health at risk. Not to mention the horses that live down the street. How will they react to the blasting and the air quality that will be horribly polluted? I don’t care how many gift cards the Will County and Plainfield politicians have received, it is not worth it at all. This needs to not happen.
Having two school age children, I can imagine what school would be like if blasting occurred across the street from their schools. Children need a more tranquil environment to maximize their learning and growth.
I live nearby. I walk this area often and see the kids playing outside at Liberty Elementary School. The kids and residents in this area should not be exposed to the excessive truck traffic, pollutants, and dangers caused by a mining and blasting operation. It would be a serious risk to public health and safety that we can avoid.
This zone change will negatively impact the health and safety of our local residents, decrease property value and create a dangerous precedent going forward. Our kids go to school across the street, play outside at recess, practice sports in those fields across the street and residents use the walking path often. The effect on air quality is concerning. Please, please vote NO!
