We and our county need and rely on our emergency services and to cut any of them is insane ...they do an amazing job and risk their own lives ...imagine not having them for ourselves and helping other services and supporting each other when they have massive jobs with the threat of lives being lost .....absolutely crazy not to keep them .
These fire engines are for the safety of the public and is key to saving precious lives of the loved ones within the community including those who are involved in the decision making of closing down this fire station.
Surely, there must be a way round this to reverse such catastrophic, regrettable and unforgivable decision.
Having two fire appliances available in Nuneaton is the only option, we are the largest town in Warwickshire and seems absolutely crazy to think that if a major incident was to take place, we'd need assistance from Bedworth, Coleshill, Atherstone and even other Fire & Rescue services from other counties such as West Midlands or Leicestershire.... The two recent fires that has taken place in Vale View and the Bibb Family proves that we need two fire engines. They have 5 minutes to respond to house fires and if an engine is having to come from Bedworth, Coleshill, Atherstone, Leamington, Hinckley, Coventry or wherever then the one fire engine has to deal with the fire until assistance arrives even on blues & twos with traffic the way it is and frequent road closures means it takes longer. There is a real risk people could die or be seriously hurt due to unavailable crew. What happens if that one engine is already on a "shout" who is covering the town. No one it's left to nearby stations to deal with, they may not have the right resources either as some are considered "retained" so they have a day job and when a shout comes in they go to it.. So that employee has to got leave work, get in their car, get to the station, get there kit on, get in the appliance even before they actually set off.. What's that five minutes lost.. That five minutes is your response time GONE instantly.... We are creating problems for other stations and ourselves. We MUST keep our two engines.
Although I lived in another county at the time, I experienced a serious house fire 5 years ago. Having a fast, expert response from Fire and Rescue Services significantly reduced the overall damage to my house, stopped the fire spreading to neighbouring buildings and will be deeply appreciated by myself and my family forever. An area as big as Nuneaton needs as much resource as possible please
