There are people who simply fulfill their roles, and then there are those like Dr. Wilkins, the Dean of Students, who become heroes in the truest sense—not by grand gestures, but by showing up every single day, for the children, he has been a role model, a protector, and someone they can trust without hesitation. He has seen us, heard us, and treated us with a level of empathy and care that goes far beyond what’s expected. He may never wear a cape, but in our eyes, he is a hero.
I’m deeply disappointed by the behavior of this nonprofit employee, who has treated members of our community with clear disrespect and disregard. In a role meant to serve and uplift those facing hardship, compassion and grace should be non-negotiable. I support any necessary actions taken to address this misconduct—no one seeking help should be made to feel like they don’t matter.
I grew up with the station there my dad and ernie best friends.although I moved to Oregon I still come back to visit.i love Manson and all my memories there.
I grew up running down that sidewalk to the park so excited. Ernie would use his air tank to fill up our inner tubes so we could swim. I used to make candy money sweeping the ground around the gas tanks. He was very much a part of Manson and I can only hope this property can remain a piece of Manson for the children and others to enjoy. So many memories, such a part of Manson I couldn't even imagine it not standing and being a place people can enjoy. As someone that no longer lives there and only sees pictures it's the only part of Manson I truly recognize anymore.
