Transgender students are individuals whose gender identity differs from the sex assigned to them at birth, encompassing identities such as male-to-female, female-to-male, nonbinary, or gender nonconforming. This issue involves their access to education, including the right to use facilities, uniforms, names, and pronouns consistent with their gender identity. Challenges arise from discrimination, harassment, or exclusion in schools, affecting their ability to participate fully.

Allowing all students the opportunity to engage in sports is healthy physically, mentally, and socially. One's gender identity should not prevent one from participating in a healthy school activity.
I (now 30 and still trans) was a trans kid in high school and if I had been banned from running, I probably would have lost the love I still have for running. Running is one of the best things in my life and to take that away from children because of who they are is incredibly terrible to their wellbeing. Children are not earning money playing sports. They are building skills on teamwork and discipline, which require the ability to work with others not like themselves who have advantages and disadvantages and differences. Deciding that some children aren’t allowed to play only shows how unaccepting adults are to diversity. You would be taking away a child’s ability to play and learn, taking away their right to happiness. Trying to make things “fair” is incredibly stupid when things are already unfair and limiting for girls in sports. I ran with both genders during high school and it made me a better runner because I was challenged to break the limits placed on me as a “girl”. Already girls in sports are being ostracized for not being “girly” or “delicate” enough because they play sports and build strength. All these superficial ideas of what girls and boys should be is what limits and harms them. Teams should build strength of character more than just strength. Because we all grow old and most of us don’t play competitively after high school, very few get to become professionals. Thinking that you must ban children from playing to preserve a sport is wildly inaccurate.
I have many trans loved ones, and a deep passion for safeguarding and caring for the next generation. Trans students competing in sports is not dangerous; exposing children to hate, bigotry and potentially predatory anti-trans practices IS.
