I, an lgbtq+ member, am signing as many trans rights petitions as possible. Trans people deserve the right to live and be comfortable in their own bodies without fear of prejudice
My younger sister came across a post of hate speech from this so-called "councillor" using images of herself, her girlfriend and their friends at Chester Pride 2024, without the consent of any parties present in the photographs. She is abusing her position of power and deserves to be removed before she brings harm to LGBTQIA+ individuals in her constituency with her harmful rhetoric.
As a trans man myself I appreciate this because we deserve to have rights, just like everyone else. Women deserve to feel safe regardless of whether they are cis or not. We deserve to have the right care and we deserve to be treated with respect. We are still human at the end of the day.
Things need to change! To make everything in regards to trans healthcare as difficult as possible is horrible enough but now the very people who work for you don’t get the very basic respect and decency at work that any other cis worker would have! It’s atrocious! We don’t ask for special treatment… we just want decency and reapect
To suggest that people living their best lives and being happy is a felony is a slap in the face to everything America is supposed to stand for. Why waste the effort trying to target a minority that just wants to go about their lives, when that energy could be better spent trying to actually help people? There’s no point in making legislation that serves no purpose other than to harm others.
Our future is on the line. We have made so much progress toward equality, love, communication, understanding. And these past several years have been a struggle to stay at that level. People keep trying to backtrack, to maintain outdated thinking that prevents us from growing as a species, not to mention as a culture and community. I do not support such small, narrow minded grasping at power and control. Politics has no place in this discussion.
