In an attempt to order some of the new Secret Lair drops today, I signed in to my account and added the items to my cart immediately at 12:00pm est. I was instantly put in a waiting queue with estimated check out time being over an hour. At 12:50 I am down to a 27 minute wait. It then jumps back up to over an hour, and at 1:02pm the queue is paused and i, Luke everyone one else, are forced to wait. Hours later when things finally begin working again I go back to the webpage to see that my session has expired/my spot in the queue is lost. At this point it honestly didn’t matter since the two secret lair so was planning to buy had sold out already. I find it outrageous that you would offer products at a first come first serve basis on a limited print run like this, yet people are somehow able to circumvent the queue and my wait time gets prolonged time and time again. I will never understand why you cater to secondary resellers and with bots and fake accounts to scoop up all of your merchandise, while loyal players and fans like myself are left to suffer. I am left dejected and disgusted with how these releases are handled and genuinely question if I even want to support a company like this anymore. Considering how poorly Hasbro as a whole had been doing financially since the purchased Wizards of the Coast, I figured you’d want to take my money. But I suppose pandering to secondary resellers and elite collectors is more important to you. Shame on you for how you’ve handled this whole situation. And shame on me for ever thinking you actually cared about your fan base.

WOTC is actively ostracizing players who can’t spend all day in front of a computer screen waiting, wastes our day when the queue kicks us or WOTC allows people to find ways to cheat it, and then creates such a limited print run that scalpers take advantage of the players in the secondary market. I can only afford one or two products a year now thanks to being stuck with scalpers, and I used to order so much more. Make the change WOTC. As it stands, from our perspective, you are actively trying to ruin the experience of everyone who has supported you.

I’m a newer player to the game, only been playing for about a year but it’s been quickly become my favorite game of all time. The art, the lore, the mechanics, to the community that has been nothing but kind, generous and accepting. I love every aspect of this game, and it’s sad to see a game full of such compassionate creative people be bogged down by horrible business practices. It isn’t fair to the community and its especially not fair to all the poor overworked people that have gathered together to make something truly special.

When Secret Lairs were first announced, I was thrilled to see reprints of old, expensive cards that I could get for a 1st-party, non-scalped price. I bought several. Since then, I refuse to set alarms or schedule buying something only to fight against botters and scalpers buying a product out within minutes. Now, seeing a new Secret Lair drop, or someone playing SL cards, makes me turn up my lip. I can't separate the corporate greed from the product and game itself. Put it back.

Many folks I know have had drops they've been looking forward to for months robbed out from under them just because they can't be the very first to queue up. If we're at work, we can't afford to make a Secret Lair purchase an occasion we wait for like we're waiting outside of GameStop in the 2010s for the next Call of Duty to release.
