STEM education and careers are critical in todays society, driving innovation and progress in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. The push for greater diversity and inclusion in STEM has gained momentum, with many petitions focusing on promoting opportunities for underrepresented groups and combating gender and racial biases in the industry.
One impactful petition calls for increased funding for STEM programs in schools serving marginalized communities, highlighting the systemic barriers that prevent equal access to quality education. Another petition urges tech companies to address the lack of diversity in their workforce and leadership positions, emphasizing the need for representation and inclusivity.
Join the movement to support equitable access to STEM education and careers by exploring and signing petitions that advocate for diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities. Your involvement can help pave the way for a more inclusive and innovative future in STEM.
Even if enrollment may be low, it is not fair to discontinue a program that statistically, majors do incredible when they go on to become physics teachers themselves. The impact these "small numbers" has is shown in how many more learn from those handful of students, and the quality MU physics majors go on to implement in their own careers.
Having a physics major validates every aspect of physics education at Millersville. I have great respect for all those who have taught at MU over the years, especially those who helped me become a physics teacher nearly 40 years ago. Dooley, Price, Cooney- you may not be there anymore in person but I carry you with me to class everyday
I'm sure on an excel spreadsheet the Physics Dept doesn't come across as very cost effective. However, there is an obvious need for the understanding of physics if we are going to understand the world around us. I'm not a physicist, but I know we need them. And we need physics teachers to teach our young people. Please save the department.
The Physics program at Millersville University prepared me for graduate school in ways that I look back and continue to appreciate. Without their rigorous Physics program, I would not have achieved the success I have in graduate school and beyond. I hope that the department and program continues to be available to provide a valuable and affordable Physics education for Pennsylvania residents like me all those years ago.
The physics education I received at Millersville University prepared me for graduate school in ways that, at the time, I did not truly appreciate. My success in graduate school (Physics) and beyond would not have been possible with the rigorous and affordable Physics program provided by Millersville University. I hope the program continues to exist for the benefit of other students in the same boat I was all those years ago.
For the last 18 years, I have changed high school students' lives by introducing them to physics using the knowledge I acquired as a Physics graduate from Millersville. Save this program!
