All my children and now my grandchildren are involved in music in their schools. It’s key to their intellectual growth. Fund it so our new generations will excell in life.
Patricia ha apoyado: Help Our Kids Thrive. Keep Music Programs in Barrie and area Schools.This team is part of one of the less wealthy public schools in Ontario. After going to university I learned that there are a lot of schools around Canada with plenty of other clubs and classes in the area to take advantage of for kids interested in engineering. Laurier is not one of them.
This decision seems to show me that the Toronto school board either doesn't care or actively resists providing opportunities for students in Scarborough who want to pursue STEM fields.
This team helped me figure out my career path, taught me how to work hard, and helped me find internships in university. Everyone here I know who has graduated went on to be brilliant engineers. Don't let the kids at Laurier lose this chance.

As an alumni of the team I can directly correlate my experience on this team to the success I have now in my career as a Mechatronics engineer. I am not a one-off. Most, if not all the students who have participated in the team, even for one meeting left every meeting learning something new. Many students have used the experience from the team to aid their university/ college applications, co-ops and even other extra-curriculars. If room 136 needs to be replaced, at least keep the team alive in another room.

It taught me a lot & eventually led me to a career in the field of medical robotics. I also happen to be a member of the native community & utilized the native center while attending laurier. It would be a huge waste of potential to reduce space or resources given to the robotics team. I think native kids would benefit more by getting involved in robotics compared to a larger native center.

Im a parent of three students who went through this program. I was moved by what was being done and how they persevere thru challenges that even I sought how to help their team and mentor.
A team losing their space to build and come together is like a sports team without a field to compete in. It simply just doesn't work and please think to reconsider using this space without setting something else for the team to use instead.

Without this team, I would not have attended university, and much less, would not have pursued engineering. Team 5036 is a vital resource for young adults- especially young girls in stem to develop new skills that will stay with them for a lifetime.
