As a female and an Army veteran, I witnessed firsthand the egregious and too often horrific SA atrocities against female soldiers play out firsthand often and almost every time with Little or no punishment against the male soldier and victim blaming the females no justice no change just swept under the rug for the good old boys club! Too much catastrophic un reversible, lifelong damage has been caused to these women… we can no longer stay silent!

I was afraid to tell anyone about my dad because I was afraid my mom, who was divorced from him, would k1ll him. I now know Mom was never violent and would have pressed charges and tenaciously went after him until he was in prison so maybe my sister and cousins would have been safe from him. I did tell my cousin's sister, whose house I was staying at, but she didn't believe me and said there was no way he would do that. I found out last year that he also SA'd by 1st cousin around the same time. This was all back in the 70s so the statute of limitations is gone. My dad has passed away, and my sisters and cousins made sure to speak up so he was no longer allowed around our side of the family, but his new wife's family didn't believe us so I can only hope he didn't hurt any of their children. My cousin is still free and thinks he got away with it, but God will be the ultimate judge, and I pray he repents for his heinous actions toward us. The statute of limitations on SA and trafficking is absolutely antiquated and should be reconsidered and eliminated for the protection of others who are vulnerable to the perpetrators. There needs to be more support for SA survivors. I felt like if I would have come forward everyone would have thought I was crazy and trying to end his football career. I wish I would have done something about it.
