I attended Heard in the 50’s & 60’s. Having a neighborhood school for young children helps in their sense of community & belonging. It is part of their social development. I encourage the parents to stand up and fight to keep the school. It’s bad enough that they took away West High School many years ago away from this community. School Board - there is a better solution to resolve your money issues than closing Heard Elementary School.
I care deeply about this issue. I am a product of Heard Elementary went to school there from KG to 6th grade and got blessed to work at Heard as an adult. This school is like a second home to the community, the culture and style that school has held has been remarkable. The teachers, staff and community genuinely love and care for all. This school holds a sacred space in my heart and I am sure it does to many of others. Keep Heard where it stands and always remember to Be HEARD!!!!!
We desperately need to keep neighborhood schools open - not close them down. There are a lot of young families moving into this neighborhood that count on Heard for their children, like I did 29 years ago. They shouldn’t have to bus them.
I don't want this school gone and abandoned I went to this school in 2007 and graduated in 2011 and I want this school to continue for the next generation of children to have memories like we did
All of my kids have gone to Heard school.
Fortunately they are all good citizens and the learning at school had helped a lot. Currently my autistic child it’s attending Heard and hasn’t been a very easy transition for hem to stay at school, now he’s in love with teachers and personal at this school and can’t think of school closing. That will be a big and stressful challenge in my son life not counting how much time it took teachers and personal at heard to have my son feel comfortable here. Please do not close our school. It has been serving our community for so many years. I bought my house in this neighborhood so all of my children can go to Heard school since this school had showed me a positive learning environment and have been the best place for many kids to succeed.
This school has been a staple to my childhood and should stay there. Removing this school will only hurt the children who needs this. Please keep this school here. I went from 1985 to 1992. My brother Shaun McCluskey went there from Kindergarten to 8th grade when they had 8th grade there.
Please keep my childhood school open! All of my memories from this school are nothing but positive! I can't fathom this school closing! I live in the area and CLEARLY see the need in keeping this school open in the area. There are SO many families who need this within the neighborhood. This would be a HUGE disservice to students, parents and the entire area. Please keep Heard School OPEN!
