I live with chronic migraine and depend on the products I use having mild to no fragrance. I was deeply disappointed to open a bottle of what used to be my favorite dish soap (no other soap compares) to find that the fragrance had been changed to something that was so pungent I could not use it without feeling ill.
Dawn was a great product I loved and counted on for years, until P&G changed its scent. I have tried for weeks to adjust to the new scent, but it’s too strong and lingering and unpleasant. I really wish they had planned to keep a “classic” version for people who really loved it the way it was. It was an iconic product that didn’t need changing. I really feel this must have been a cost-cutting measure, which to me spells out g-r-e-e-d, since this has been a very popular product with a large market share. I have already started my search for a new favorite dishwash. It will not be a P&G product. Ever. Again. They did the same thing with Head & Shoulders — many new scents, all of them horrible. My family is already spending our hair care dollars elsewhere. After decades of dedication to P&G products, we are done.
The new clean scent is horrendous. It instantly gave me a headache. The company’s canned response to all the complaints is even worse. They had to have paid all the people in their test groups to say this was better. Why change something that wasn’t broken? The poor animals that might be getting cleaned with this new scent definitely don’t deserve this either!
I've used Dawn soap for decades. It has been highly effective at cleaning my eyeglasses. However, the new scent is super potent and has an extremely long "hang time," and sadly, it really bothers my eyes. Why oh why did P&G think it was a good idea to "improve" the scent? In the immortal words of Tony in the movie Leon: The Professional: "Change ain't good, Leon. You know?" To the geniuses at P&G: When you finally realize you screwed up and need to revert to the original formula, please indicate on the bottles that it's now back to the "original scent"---so that I know it's safe to buy again. Thanks!
