The services federal employees provide managing BLM and Forest Services were already understaffed. These cuts make preserving our green space impossible and downright damaging to the health and well being of our environment. The health and well being of people depend on the health and well being of the environment
There are a couple million noisy spaces in the region. There is one that is quiet. Noise is not obligated to devour everything. It is the quiet one that takes me to Isanti County. I am always sensitive to the "last person" moving to the quiet edge--then wanting everyone else to stay away. That is not reality. But all owners ought be able to depend on the planning/zoning under which they became owners.
In my city, rental venues are very problematic. Every event is different, with different clientele, run by different renters--often attracting a crowd that has staying in-bounds as the last thing on their mind. Even when tightly enforced--even the amount of enforcement activity can be disruptive to calm.
I was gifted a stay at Pacem in Terris by a very dear friend who knew I was in a place of needing quiet rest in God's presence. Pacem in Terris provided me much solace and spiritual reflection in the midst of a very strenuous time of adversity. I am so grateful for the experience and the kindness that was shown by the staff. Please come experience the solitude for yourself so that you know what it's like and to not grant a conditional use for this venue. Thank you
Pacem is a place of peace, silence, and rest that has been a gift to me and many others! It’s important to protect the silence so that it can continue to be a haven for people.
I feel the added noise and traffic would significantly take away from the quiet tranquility of Pacem in terrace. This is a sacred place and quiet is a must. I hope you will consider the negative impact that this new venue would cause to them. Please consider a different location for the wedding venue.
It would be very sad to see you approve one business at the expense of another. I was blessed to spend some time at Pacem. The best part about it was the peace and tranquility found as you walk around the grounds. Please know that your decision will likely. Either save Pacem or eventually close it down. The noise coming from the wedding venue would rob future Pacem of the very element they seek - to meet God in the silence.
Pacem has been a place of quiet and peace for so many people who need to escape from the crazy loud world, even if only for a few days at a time. My time there has always been fruitful, and the quiet atmosphere plays a big part of that. Please consider the incredibly hurtful impact of adding a loud event venue so close to Pacem. It goes against the very nature of what Pacem is trying to provide for the folks attending retreats there.
Dear decision makers, I ask you to try Pacem to experience a snippet of the what many of these voices are sharing. This rest area has been soul-enriching as I career plan as a 24 year old in a new job market. The silence away from technology for a weekend is deeply needed.
