Skateparks help communities thrive, give the youth a safe and positive place to be.

I have in writing from the consultation stages of the legacy of the commonwealth games meetings, that "a public gym is guaranteed on site post commonwealth games 2022". This is an important part of the community and must remain for the community and owned by the community.

As a parent of two children who use the Gardyne pool for swimming lessons, I know firsthand how vital this facility is to families in the area. There is no local alternative. Closing it would severely impact our kids’ access to physical activity, learning, and community wellbeing. Please reconsider – this pool is not a luxury, it’s a lifeline.

I would like to add some additional comments. Apart from all the very relevant comments that have already been made. I would like to say as someone who has been using the facilities at the college for over 15 years, that given the pools age, it is still in good condition and the male and female changing rooms and showers were refurbished a few years ago. The various people of all ages use the pool for many reasons, but there is one group who benefit more than some. They are all the people of all ages, who have recently had surgery for many reasons and their rehabilitation and recovery is paramount to the successful outcome of the surgical procedure they have undergone many of them attend the pool on a daily/weekly basis to allow them to carry out the valuable exercises, which will can result in them returning to their normal mobility. This I must stress that this mean all these people are not taking up valuable appointments at any of the NHS clinics. Something that cannot be overlooked. There are also so many people who swim very regularly who live alone and benefit greatly from the social interactions with like minded people and many friendships have been forged as a result. The management who have had the responsibility of overseeing the running of these two amazing facilities have failed to, promote or properly monitor the actual numbers of people using the facilities on a daily basis. Finally if the college had flagged up the financial problems and maintenance issues years ago and increased the fees by as much as 25% they may not be facing this situation and I am 100% sure that the members would have supported the increase. When you have a loyal membership in any club or facility, you need to keep them informed something that the College have failed to do over the years. I would therefore fully support members/ public meeting Avril

Both my daughters attend swimming lessons here, with the youngest having only started last week. It’s already very difficult to find available places at swim schools, and this will affect hundreds of children a week as well as the schools who provide the lessons. There must be an to closure, as the facilities are well used as far as I’m aware.

It's a wonderful sport for all ages, from up and coming youngsters joining League level players in a bright airy hall..no other decent halls around..also nice for families to book a court and all play together and have fun, the whole idea of a sports centre is to have a community hall to play sport , badminton is a lovely sport for all levels and keeps you fit whilst having fun in the process...we need that sports hall!

Badminton got me back on my feet after cancer. It’s not just a game – it’s vital for health, recovery, and connection. Keep the courts open.

These kinds of places are so important to the BMX sport and provide a place for people to gather, ride their bikes, and talk. To lose this would affect so many people now and in the future.
Mark supported: Save Hill Top Trails, Cumbrias longest serving BMXtrack.
Trails are not only spaces that are enjoyed by many around the globe, but also living works of art, built in harmony with nature using nothing but the ground beneath our feet. They pose no threat, only misunderstanding. The loss of this spot would be a devastating blow to the landscape , surrounding nature and community.
