Silica is a hazardous material according to OSHA guidelines. Silica dust from a Quarry range from 1/2 a mile epicenter of dust to a two to 4 mile radius. I already have asthma from black mold exposure in Sullivan County School System I cannot handle more pollution. Who on the Sullivan County commission voted for this children with asthma will be in the epicenter on this pollution. Who voted for this I want names of commissioners who support this type of pollution around school children they should resign immediately. I will be at the meeting tomorrow and want too speak.

I am against such a quarry being built so close to schools and single-family homes. The noise from the blasting alone will make it hard for children to concentrate on their school learning, not to mention the air quality will hinder their health.

I purchased my home back in July of this year (2024) and moved to the beautiful community of Kingsport, TN to get away from the very people who are attempting land grabs all over our beautiful nation for nefarious purposes and to disrupt the tranquility and natural beauty We the People currently enjoy! I SAY NO TO THE BUILDING OF HORSE CREEK LIMESTONE QUARRY!!!

Supporting the profits of 1 person over the health of many is Insanity Silica dust is harmful because it's 100 times smaller than a grain of sand, so you can breathe it in without knowing. Inhaling silica dust can be hazardous and lead to a number of serious diseases, including: • Silicosis: An irreversible lung disease that causes scarring and stiffening of the lungs, making it difficult to breathe. There's no cure for silicosis. • Lung cancer: Inhaling silica dust can cause lung nodules, which may be a sign of lung cancer. The risk of cancer increases with long-term or repeated high-level exposure. • Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD): Inhaling silica dust can lead to COPD. • Kidney disease: Inhaling silica dust can lead to kidney disease. • Autoimmune disorders: Exposure to silica dust is related to the development of autoimmune disorders. • Cardiovascular impairment: Exposure to silica dust is related to cardiovascular impairment. Quarrying activities have a negative effect on the surrounding towns, the environment, and the health and safety of the workers and residents of the quarries such as landscape degradation, habitat destruction, air and water pollution, and noise pollution Crushed Limestone contains toxic metals such as Lead, Arsenic, Cadmium Chromium Mercury and Zinc. Pollution we already face living in Kingsport As of January 2024, our Local Municipal water supply tested contaminated with forever cancer causing chemicals. EPA statistics reveal a 17.9% near 20 % higher risk for cancer living in Kingsport, versus Bristol or Johnson City. 2 to 3 times the National average children with asthma in some Sullivan County Schools due to mold and poor Air Quality. This Area Has enough pollution and we do not need any more.

We just moved here from NY for a better lifestyle with less congestion and cleaner air. This rock quarry wouldn't benefit this area - this is a residential area with schools, families, wildlife. This will cause a lot of excess dust in the air which no one wants to breathe in, not to mention rattling foundations of homes - most being mobile homes in the area. Myself and my family already suffer from allergies and if this happens will only make them worse with the dust. It will disrupt our schools and our children's learning capabilities. We say NO to the quarry!

I was a child living in Sullivan Gardens back in the early 1950s. I am horrified that there is a rock quarry getting ready to be built where I used to walk in the woods and play in the streams as a child . This quarry would be a permanent blight upon the land and would serve to make Sullivan County less attractive to live in , not only that , but it will not bode well for the health and well being of anyone who may live in the area . This is not progress in any way , this is an abomination and a crime .

This quarry will have a major impact on our small town community! It will have a negative environment impact on air quality from the dust and noise pollution! It will also have a major impact or our roads due to the heavy industrial trucks and traffic increasing the burden of road maintenance on our Kingsport municipality which would ultimately be passed on to the tax payer. This quarry is being proposed in a residential area which will have an adverse effect of property owners and surrounding neighborhood. I humbly ask the commission, if this was your neighborhood would you approve the proposal? Please do not destroy our community by approving this proposal. Sincerely, Donald Blache

There are a lot of mobile homes in the area. Not just the trailer parks, but many property owners in the area have a mobile home. Enough blasting to shake a concrete home foundation is one thing, but it takes very little vibration to collapse a trailer on center blocks. Peoples homes and lives could be in danger. They'll say there are regulations to prevent that, but the reality is that its always ignored and never checked.

The quarry will cause foundation problems to our homes we will lose value unable to sell and the insurance company will cancel our insurance. The area is full of springs because we live in a valley between mountains. This area is full of wetlands sink holes because of water runoff. These systems purify the water that goes back to rivers lakes where we get our drinking water. Drought is effecting Tennessee and we need to protect our water. Tennessee is big on water conservation. We don’t need this quarry.
