I asked for help and tried to advocate for myself. I questioned authority in trying to help make the system better, and she kicked me out of school. Students are taught to stand up for themselves, but are we not supposed to against unjust systems that are setting us up for failure? The school system needs to do better.

My son is a freshman and had a great deal of anxiety at Senior. He has had an individual learning plan since 7th grade for this. They did nothing to support his learning. They wouldn’t work with me or provide options or anything. They also wouldn’t honor his learning plan. Then 2 months ago I got an email saying he was being unenrolled. That’s all it said, not other info at all. All of this unenrolling students is a direct violation of Montana laws. Everyone at that school in leadership positions need terminated and staff who actually care need to be brought in. It’s a travesty what they are doing to our kids.

These kids and their mental health seems to be no concern to her. Her expectations are to high and she does not seem to care one bit that some of these kids give it their all each and every day and still struggle. If she notices she sure doesn’t seem to care. Some kids struggle to even show up to school. My child was one of them. Shelli voices her thoughts every morning over the intercom. My child feels the daily words spoke each morning by Shelli Strouf are negative high expectations and it really bothers my child.

I’m a student of Salamanca high school yesterday, may 8th of 2025 I cursed in class and had gotten taken down to Mr. Longs office there I was sat down at a round table with him a teacher and Mr. Cruise, the vice principal while I was there I was yelled at and even told stuff like “have you ever been to Walmart and felt embarrassed for the one family where the mom is off somewhere and the kids are somewhere else?” To wich I replied “no not really” he said “I feel genuinely embarrassed for those families and I don’t want you to be the person I feel embarrassed for” insinuating that I was the embarrassing one in my family at this point I was sobbing and hyperventilating but he did not stop he continued to yell at me and then said “what do you think I should do about this” I told him I didn’t know and he gave me a shocked/ upset look then proceeded to tell me I needed to apologize to the class next to the one I was in as they heard me cuss, the class I was in, both teachers, and the teacher that walked me down and was sitting at the table. I didn’t understand why I had to apologize to 2 classes full of students and started getting more and more anxious about it he didn’t seem to care at all when I was sobbing and hyperventilating barely able to speak and neither did the teacher the only person that did anything was Mr. Cruise he was telling me to breathe and brought me a tissue while he was continuously yelling at me the teacher kept adding on saying stuff like “oh and by the way she has her phone on her too” after a long while he made me act out “what his principal did to him” he told me to stand up so I did didn’t understand why, not wanting to make the situation worse he told me to put my hand out so again I complied and he slapped my hand and told me “now that’s enough” I then started crying harder and hyperventilating more my anxiety was horrible and I wanted to just leave, after around 30 minutes of what felt like hours he let me leave. I know this might not seem horrible and I know cursing was wrong but I truly believe the way he handled that to a student was NOT ok.

I wish this had been done sooner as this behavior was going on in 2014/2015 while I attended school there. He’d look at us (14/15 yrs olds) like pieces of meat. I had a friend tell me she saw inappropriate pictures on his work computer and all he had said to her was “you didn’t see that.” I will never understand how this man was rehired. I remember I was in trouble for something and he was going to call my dad (over something dumb like being a couple mins late) so I said “Go ahead and call him” to this day I remember the evil smirk on his face with his reply of “I’ll get to tell him what a gorgeous daughter he has” I never told anyone and he in fact never did call my dad. I was only 14/15 years old and he a grown ass man in no way should have been talking like that to a minor. I got a bad feeling then, I'm 25 now and still do. My child will NEVER attend that school.

I'm a retired Chicago/Collier County teacher. My advice would be to get out of the south. If you can, move to the north. You will be respected, paid double, you can teach factual history, and you don't have to discriminate against your children. Please, if you can, get out of the profession or move to the north to teach. I loved teaching, but I don't know how any of you do it down here now? Sending you tons of love, respect, compassion and strength. I'm sorry you are being blacklisted. It happens ALL THE TIME in education. I'm so proud of you for speaking up, and I really hope it does some good for you. You can also try Palm Beach County. Districts don't usually communicate with one another down here. You did nothing wrong and everything right.
