I'm an inactive member of this Community. When I was active and whenever I do become active, the Crossings is one of very few places I can safely walk, exercise, meet people, and learn about Colonie Community events. Without Crossings, the community that goes there will meet in other places and increase the numbers of people in crowds for those other places. Ban it in those other places, we WILL meet in less safe areas and increase crowds that aren't meant to have them. The nature of the game is to see and experience new places we've never been and meet a huge diversity of people we otherwise would never meet. PLEASE stop all efforts to end game play of the Crossings. It helps us to spread out in safe areas, keeping less congested, and avoid congesting unsafe areas.

This game has brought so many people together over the years, including my fiancé and me. Especially throughout the pandemic, this game helped players keep their sanity. If nobody is doing anything to harm themselves or others, then this shouldn’t even be an issue. It’s just groups of people walking around playing a game.

My grandson used to love Pokemon go. When he stayed with us, my wife and i, I would take him driving around to capture all those characters. Crossings as often a good place to nab a few of those critters. Well this is no longer part of my life, I can identify with the people who are still involved in that game. There should be no disruptive behavior involved in it. If this potential removal of the crossings as a habitat for pokémon characters is true, I don't understand the reasoning behind it.

I don't play Pokemon Go, but I am a taxpayer and I do frequent the park with my family. I've never had an issue with anyone playing Pokemon Go. What is a park, if not a place for people in the community to enjoy the outdoors? This proposed ban makes no sense at all.

The Crossings of Colonie is a safe space for Pokemon Go Players to play the game with like minded individuals. I have never seen any issues with any players. We all usually stand off the Paths to make sure people can still use the walking paths. If Pokemon Go is banned from Colonie, then there won't be a safe space in the area for the community to play. This park is accessible for those with disabilities. This game is getting people outside, meeting new people, and building community. If you ban Pokemon Go Players, what's next? The dogs? The bicyclists? I've seen people almost hit by careless cyclists and bitten by dogs in the park more than I've seen any issues with those enjoying the Pokemon game. Shift the focus to things that truly matter. Not this game that we all love that helps grow and facilitate a healthy and helpful community.

I am unable to attend the upcoming meeting about Pokemon Go in the Crossings Park, but I wanted to give you my perspective as an older person who’s been playing Pokemon Go since it was created in 2016. I am 70 years old and have used the park to walk for many years. My nephew introduced me to the game because its core concept is to “Get out and walk and meet new people.” It’s very easy to dismiss players as “a bunch of nerds,” but I don’t think we should underestimate the numbers of people of all ages who play this game. I have seen so many parents playing with their young children and it’s a great way to get kids motivated about walking. Distance covered is actually a part of the game. I’ve brought my grandchildren and we've made many memories as we’ve played together. I’ve met lovely people of all ages while playing in your park. I’ve never seen a single incident of bad behavior or rule breaking by players, but I’m sure this issue must have been highlighted by some badly behaved folks. I would ask you to please continue to allow gameplay in the park so as not to disappoint the majority of us who follow the rules and appreciate the safety and beauty of the park. Sincerely, Nancy Manning

Going to the park to play pokemon with friends has been such a wonderful way to get together, stay active and enjoy the day in the sun without having to spend money. We spend more time together and outside thanks to the park and pokemon. I would hate to lose our small groups weekly meet ups at the park. We wouldn’t see each other nearly as often without a safe and comfortable place to play.

With everything that is going on individuals need safe community spaces to exist. Community gatherings and having the support of like-minded individuals doesn't only help create safer spaces in an already chaotic world, it also helps individuals with their mental health, especially during the winter season. Pokemon Go, more than just a game, is an opportunity to connect with others. Taking away the option of playing the game at this park with destroy a community and could potentially push people to play in places that are not as safe.

While I don't play Pokemon Go, my kids do and I love the chance to enjoy family time with them. The Crossings offers a safe spot for us and we enjoy seeing others play in a fun and interactive way.

I met my fiancée six years ago while playing Pokémon GO in a public park. The community this game has fostered is unique, and no public space should discourage the gathering of its players. The game encourages people of young and old and across numerous generations to spend time together. The number of parents and grandparents I see playing with their kids and grandkids is heartwarming. The Crossings is truly the gem of Colonie and should be open to all to enjoy without fear of discrimination from anyone.
