Vittorie a Pet Loss

4 sostenitori stanno parlando di petizioni relative a Pet Loss!

Animals absolutely have personalities and emotions. We share this earth and our life experiences with them. We have every right to grieve their loss as we would any other member of our family.

I have unfortunately had to say goodbye to some of my four legged family members and it’s heartbreaking. Their loss affects you emotionally and physically. And yes, for some people that have never experienced or may not understand the grief that comes along with it, it makes it difficult to ask for time off. But we all should be entitled to the same compassion, love and understanding that goes along with the loss of someone we love. Love knows no boundaries and love does not discriminate whether it’s an actual person or a beloved fur baby.

My fiance and I just lost our best friend. Barista was our cat, not even our cat. She was our baby. She was perfect. She was our perfect. She was suddenly ran over and we had to bury her. We've been crying for days. I've been crying, throwing up, coughing. All I can do is cry and throw up. All I see is her. This is ridiculous. We both work in a correctional facility. A prison. We can't be seen crying at work. But that's gonna end up happening if we don't have this leave for our companions. My head hurts, my eyes hurt, my throat hurts, my heart hurts. Everything hurts. They have personalities just as people do. They have spirits, traits, and souls. You bond with them more than people. I'd give anything to have Barista back we both would. This grieving will take way longer than what they're saying. I don't even know if time will heal it. She wasn't just a cat, she really was our baby.

For some, our connection to our pets is so very profound and so very deep that we grieve harder, then for some family members because they have been our constant companions without judgment and have relied upon us for their every need. The grief is so deep that your brain cannot function, at least for the first 3 to 5 days. There is no way you are capable of being productive at work, your concentration is off, mistakes are made, your easily prone to crying, and it is the last place on earth you want to be. I actually think you get less work done. It just makes sense to allow pet parents to have a few days off to grieve. I have had numerous losses over the years and every time I have had to go into work, I have been useless and most of the time ended up having to go home early anyway.
