As a first generation college student, this campus opened a lot of opportunities for me to find my career & passion to later move on to Penn state university. I have graduated & currently live in NY where I started my first job in my career. Thank you to my advisor at Penn State York who guided me on what major I should join as I shared him what my interest. This campus gives great opportunities to the community to further their careers & athletes careers!

If this campus was not open I would not have had the opportunity for continuing education

I am a first generational student. I did not do any tours, did not hear anything about Penn State. I went in blindfolded. 2 years passed and I have gained knowledge that I would never regret and will pass down to my future generations. Penn state York has showed me integrity, respect, and connections. Everybody among each other would hold hands and say that Penn state York is our home. Our safe space. Where our Penn State pride is born.

First college graduate in my family- my dad actually went to Penn State York and dropped out when my parents were expecting me. My life goal was to go to college and without Penn State York that wouldn't have been possible. An affordable quality education while being able to do the work-study program and commute/ continuing working my other jobs to support my family is the only reason I am where I am today. I always thought my kids would have the same opportunity I did to go to Penn State York (even at the high school level for a class or two). Very upsetting it is even a possibility that the campus will close. It benefits our community immensely.

As a local, Penn State York was instrumental in me "getting my feet wet". Other colleges seemed too big and daunting to attend. The small, comfortable size of PSY allowed me to adjust and gain confidence before going up to UP. The professors there are awesome, and they are indispensable for their knowledge and determination. There's no way I'd be where I am today as a professional if I hadn't had the Penn State experience at York.

Penn State gave me a new start to my life. I am a non-traditional adult learner, biology major student hoping to apply to dental school within the next two years. I transferred all of my credits from a well-known college in Philadelphia, and everything that I didn't get there, I got here at Penn State. This is my first year at Penn State York and this campus has already given me so many oppurtunities to make connections, to thrive in my environment, and to be the best student I have ever been in the past 8 years since I started my college journey. I felt like a failure and hopeless for so long until I decided to start fresh at Penn State York. I would be so saddened to see this campus go because of the impact the people here have made in my life in such a short amount of time. I have never felt so included, heard, and to have your voice heard and listened to not only by professors, but also peers that are on the same boat as you is a feeling that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. Penn State York has quite literally changed the entire trajectory of my life and I will uphold the proud name of Penn State York no matter where I go in life. One year of being on this campus has affected me so much in the best way possible, I hope that this feeling is one that all students get to experience if they choose to start their career and education at this campus. This campus DESERVES to stay on the map for many years to come!

When pullo center first was built 20 years ago I was really upset with it because I used to go watch the sunset in the park behind it and it blocked my view. then I was part of an event at Pullo center and they ended up hiring me. not only do I get to watch the incredible sunsets in climate control but I also absolutely love my job there. I have been there for 17 years and have been a part of many incredible events there. How many people can say they’ve met William Shatner, cracked jokes with George Takei, had lunch with Weird Al, escorted Wynonna Judd to her dressing room and was a body guard for Cary Elwes. I’ve had a pretty wild life and a huge part of it is because of this unique building. They really care about the community and the arts. It would be a devastating loss for the community if this was shut down.

After high school I had no idea what I wanted to do, so I didn’t go to college right away. Instead I took some time to work and then I made the decision to enroll at HACC York as undecided to get some general ed courses and hopefully figure out a direction that I wanted to go in career wise. However I didn’t have the best experience and quit after one semester and went back to working. Two years passed and I decided that I wanted to give college another try but at an entirely different school. I explored a few options and set up a tour at Penn State York as well as Shippensburg. After I toured the Penn State York campus I immediately knew I didn’t need to tour or look anywhere else, it was the perfect fit for me. I commute to school with the drive being only 15 minutes away from my house, saving me money and I am also able to still work at my job on the weekends. I was also able to continue playing volleyball, which was really hard for me to give up after high school and all of the girls on the team are very welcoming and kind as well as my new coaches. Everyone at Penn State York wants every student to succeed and will give you whatever support you need to make that happen. As someone who also has ADHD, Penn State York has given me the opportunity to obtain a 504 plan to accommodate my needs. I have also been more involved in my first semester at Penn State York than I have in my entire years throughout grade school. The community here is so encouraging that it makes you want to do more and be more than a student. Penn State York has helped me immensely as a student and as an adult soon ready to enter the world. They have helped me with personal issues such as getting my car insurance switched for a lower rate by connecting me with a former Penn State York student who works for an insurance company. Penn State York has significantly changed my life for the better and I am so glad I chose this campus. It is a very personal experience here at Penn State York and I really hope it will stay open so that other students can gain that experience as well.

When I began as a freshman at Penn State York, I wanted to do the 2+2 program for psychology. But within the first few months of my college journey, Penn State York's campus atmosphere, supportive psych department, and wonderfully kind and caring campus community made me change my mind. I am now graduating all four years from Penn State York. I could not bear to leave such an incredible place. This campus is my home away from home--a place I can feel free to be myself and pursue my interests with the endless support of friends, faculty, and staff. In high school, I hardly got involved in anything. In my four years at Penn State York, I was supported in my journey in joining three clubs, academic research, writing competitions, and an awesome on-campus job in the Student Affairs Office, all in addition to my amazing classes. This campus undoubtedly shaped the young adult I have become. Kindly consider how Penn State York can positively shape the next generation, too.
