Many individuals and families cannot continue to afford basic heating and air due to the incessant increases. We are seniors one of who is disabled and needs heat and air. With these continuous increases we cannot use the service many days due to the costs
As a retiree, I can no longer afford to pay my electric bill and eat. So I am living in a cold (or hot) home and eating very little. I'm fairly certain that Newsom and his rich cronies are trying to force the middle class OUT of California and turn it into an elitist state that can have to themselves. All of the illegal immigrants will be their "slave" class. 4th generation native, here. I'll live in a tent and pay NOTHING before I will leave.
PG&E was responsible for the Tubbs fire that burned my house down. I got a minimal payout from PG&E and then my rates have been raised multiple times. I bought a solar system to reduce my dependence on them and the compensation they pay for excess power has been reduced. They have a monopoly and it's obvious the PUC is in their pocket. This is beyond pathetic. There needs to be competition in power suppliers.
I have tried very hard to reduce my household's impacts on climate change with new windows, insulation, rooftop solar photovoltaic panels that also charge our EV. PG&E is famous for lip service to all this but then boosts our electric rates and fees to profit their stockholders. PG&E should be a non-profit public utility.
These pg&e prices are outrageous. I am on medical baseline for a heart condition and we are also on the care program, but my bill in the summer is still $900 a month. My bill in the winter has been around $300 a month and that's without me running my heater. In the winter we don't run the heater at all and it's as cold as 56 degrees in here because of it. Then in the summer I run my ac at 78 because I can't run it at a higher level or I'd risk fainting. These pg&e prices have gotten so high that you have to choose to either have power, a place to live, or food. My rent is already $2400 a month and with pge being so high we go without food at times. Pg&e needs to stop making us pay for their mistakes and stop making us pay these terrible politicians!
