I worked at Poppas when I was 17/18/19. Along with my mom & several other family members of ours have worked here as well. We have never been back inside this place since my mom finally was able to find another job. There are long time employees here who are close friends & family with the manager, Peggy & they get the upper hand always. Especially the waitresses that are affiliated with her. They get the best work schedules, the best areas to waitress based on tips & anything they report to Peggy will be dealt with expeditiously & most of the time very rudely. I will never forget Peggy blatantly asked me in front of a table I was waiting on if I was on drugs (or pills) because I was moving slow like a 70 year old woman. So embarrassing & rude of her. That’s no way to speak to an employee, especially when I thought I was doing great & was praised by many other employees who said I done a great job & was a hard worker. I feel like they are very messy & will say things like this to your face meanwhile their little click talks about every little thing you do wrong & nitpicks behind your back for fun. I was ultimately let go after about 3years when I became pregnant & had debilitating nausea for which I could not go to the dr everyday to obtain an excuse for calling out. Peggy was rude & short during a conversation through text about this matter (after only about 2 call-ins due to the nausea) which she responded to me “just don’t come back”.

Throughout my time working with Peggy and other employees at Poppa’s, I have witnessed and experienced numerous instances of favoritism, racism, bullying, and various unacceptable behaviors in the workplace. These actions have affected not only employees, including myself, but also customers. Such behavior from a manager or any employee is entirely unacceptable and must be addressed and stopped immediately.

I’m signing to support peaceful working environments for everyone and to especially support young people who are just trying to get a feel for being in the working class! My first job at 16 was a similar experience and I feel it shaped the way I feel about management! Best wishes to all involved!

My son worked there 2011-2012. He was an EXCEPTIONAL employee… rarely ever missed work, quiet, respectful, great with the public. He was scheduled to go on a college campus tour and called to let the manager (Peggy) know he would be unable to work that shift - he notified her DAYS in advance. As his mother, I could hear Peggy screaming at him through the phone and then hung up on him! Peggy is very unprofessional, rude and definitely does not exhibit good management skills. More recently, I have also witnessed the manager speaking inappropriately to the young teenagers there. I would NEVER send anyone I know to apply for any positions there.

My niece was a victim of Peggy’s bullying. It was shocking to learn that over 60 former employees, most of them children, have experienced the same.

I worked for poppas many years...I saw and heard things from the manger that would make your skin crawl...I was talked down to and treated like a kid...I am 46 years old by far from a kid...I have seen long time employees quit too due to the same fact...the owners do not care...call u liars or just make ur work experience even more hellish...that place is a soul sucker and I mean that...

I worked at poppas as my first job and Peggy and her daughter bullied me along with many other teens/young adults my age and younger (the youngest being 14-15) the whole time I was there and I was there for 2 years. She prioritizes her waitresses over any of the other workers because her daughter is a waitress and she treated the rest of us like dirt! Any tips had to go to the waitresses even if customers directly told us they were ours and if we were caught with a tip, it was snatched out of our hands and we were yelled at and told “you know those are for the waitresses!” Also, clearly Alesha Banks, her daughter thinks bullying teens is funny because I shared my experiences on Facebook about her not tending to her table for hours, not even one refill after an hour and so they gave me a tip, she stomped over and snatched it saying it was her tip, another table saw the whole thing and gave me a bigger tip then what she took, but I posted that story and she laugh reacted it like it was funny! So I called her out and she laugh reacted to that to, glad to know she finds that funny, something needs to change, grown women bullying teens is unacceptable

I worked there and endured the bullying from the manager and her daughter once the daughter decided she no longer liked me. One lady that so happened to be dating the daughters ex husband was bullied to a point of quitting just because of who she was dating, I've witnessed multiple employees get bullied, yelled at, and talked about for their appearance and/or lifestyle preferences. Once they decided to not like me, I was cut down to 12 hours a week so I picked up another job then was taken off the schedule because of it, then terminated for no call no show even though I called everyday to see if I was written in on the schedule and never was. No one should have to deal with the hostility while nothing gets done about it
