I support all home school families fighting for the freedom to teach their own children. The public school system is corrupted by political ideology and has failed its communities. This is a money grab due to lowered enrollment rates. This is injustice at the highest level and our children are not safe in the hands of public schools any longer. Children are safe at home getting the best individualized education possible by their parents and grandparents. I am one of those grandparents. Please do not allow a few pretender telling you they care for our children, it’s a lie. We the people of Connecticut Homeschool families love our children and we trust God to overcome this threat to our rights.
I am a proud homeschool graduate who ended up receiving five college degrees, including graduate degrees from Yale and The Juilliard School. Keep educational choices in the hands of parents who know their children! There is so much else the government should be focusing on…
I have two children who have struggled with reading but now flourishing from our home curriculum and one-on-one time. There is no way they would have kept up or not been left behind if they went to public school. Please leave home schooling alone!
12 years ago, my daughter graduated from our home school. This child from the earliest age would always say she wanted to be a wife and mother. So I was able to gear a lot of her education towards that goal. So many things that were taught in the homeschool were both necessary just for normal life as well as that of being a wife and mother. Now she’s a wife she has three children of her own and she runs a Homestead with her husband on their 82 acres of land. She is homeschooling her children, my grandchildren. She tailors their studies to achieve some goals, such as having the children have a passion to learn. She works on gearing individual studies to certain children because of their attitude and interest. My first grandson was reading when he was three years old. He is an avid reader now. My second grandson is an outdoor guy like his grandfather, my husband. He loves to fix things and build things and loves to work on the farm with his mom. He loves all the animals they have and helps mom when it comes time for butchering, rabbits, and chickens. Each of those children know where their food comes from. My youngest is it’s such a blessing for me. It’s my granddaughter. She happens to be three at this time. She knows her colors. She knows her numbers she’s proficient and her letters. She wants to do everything her brothers do so I believe that because her brothers are doing so well she will also when the time comes. I pray that this petition will be taken seriously by those in government. They are working for the people who put them there. As one of those persons, I would appreciate you keeping your hands off of homeschooling families. Let them educate the children in their care far better than the public schools seem to do. Thank you.
Homeschooling in CT was hard but a wonderful experience. I was surrounded by the most intentional families that are dedicated to the education of their children. There is absolutely no reason why any requirements need to be needlessly added.
We were told my son had adhd while in public school. He struggled in public school. Now he is thriving and excelling in all his subjects. He is in 10th grade and taking online college level courses.
This state continues to be a dumpster fire of government overreach. We do NOT want to co-parent our children with you. We homeschool because we want BETTER for our children. It wasn’t enough for you to encroach on our religious beliefs, now you want to come for our private lives too? Homeschool parents shouldn’t have to prove our innocence to you. Stop treating us like criminals because of state agency failures. CLEAN UP YOUR OWN HOUSE AND STOP COMING FOR OURS.
We homeschool in MA and are incredibly angry and disappointed in the lack of respect lawmakers have for family rights. Homeschooling our children is the best decision we have made. Our children are thriving. It's horrible to think lawmakers are hastily trying to taking these rights away causing children all over CT to suffer.
Homeschooling has been the best thing for my children. We have an amazing homeschool community also that meets up weekly. My son and daughter have thrived with homeschooling and are extremely social and smart.
There’s no need to make homeschooling “safe” as it is the safest choice made out of love. While abuse is happening within public schools by staff, bullying, and more-homeschool parents want what’s best for their child and to keep them safe, not be made to “check in” with the very institution that made them feel unsafe in the first place. Do better CT!!
