We shouldn’t be made to live in fear and feel uncomfortable in our own homes, there are young children and babies living here. They shouldn’t have a childhood growing up around anti social behaviour.

The plan to construct houses directly on the boundary disregards the long-standing natural landscape, which has been home to diverse wildlife and provided an open, beautiful view for years this is considerably unreasonable. This development is not just a loss of green space—it is actively damaging the character and environment of our town. There is a clear failure to incorporate sufficient green areas within the estate. In line with responsible urban planning, there should be designated **greenbelt land and continuous green corridors** throughout the development to preserve local biodiversity and prevent over-urbanization. The absence of these features exacerbates environmental destruction and disrupts the balance between nature and residential expansion. Additionally, the infrastructure in Shrewsbury is already stretched beyond capacity. **Schools, GP surgeries, and essential services** cannot accommodate an influx of new residents without severe strain on existing resources. **Preston Street, a critical roadway, will struggle with increased traffic congestion**, raising safety concerns for both residents and commuters. It is unacceptable to push forward a plan that fails to consider the long-term effects on infrastructure sustainability. Furthermore, I must highlight a **15-inch watermain on the boundary**, which has an easement with Severn Trent Water and **runs through phases one and two of the development**. This pipeline is a **major feeder for the whole of Shrewsbury**, and I believe it extends to the railway line and backs up into one of the cul-de-sacs. I would like an **investigation into where this pipeline runs throughout the estate** and confirmation on how this is being factored into planning decisions. Houses **should not be built within a 20-metre radius** of this pipeline to ensure its integrity and future access for maintenance. I’m looking at phase one and two the pipeline runs all the way through that new estate. Other key concerns include: - **Water drainage and flood risks**—Has a full environmental impact study been conducted? The destruction of green space will only worsen flooding issues. - **Housing density**—The number of houses being packed into this development lacks balance and consideration for quality of life. - **Wildlife preservation**—The proposed plan disregards existing habitats, displacing species with no mitigation strategy in place. I urge the planning committee to **reconsider the density and layout of this development**, ensure proper environmental protections, and address the infrastructure challenges before allowing construction to proceed. The needs of the existing community must be prioritised over unchecked .

This are 116 condo units and 266 apartment complex within feet of this proposed 250mw battery storage facility. How on earth would they evacuate all these people if ever a fire? Estimated 1000 people would have to be evacuated from these to complexes alone. Think about that.

Watnall Road has always felt dangerous to cross as a pedestrian, we definitely need something that prioritises people over cars for the area

I have lived in Finchley for nearly 30 years. North Finchley in particular is rapidly deteriorating. Streets are dirty. Parking is expensive and difficult. Local services are atrocious and offer no value for the ever increasing council tax. The council is inefficient and has been for many years. It is on the brink of bankruptcy and It is desperate for funds. So desperate that it cannot make proper and logical decisions for the benefit of the community. It is essentially selling all of us down the river. Selling off our open spaces, car parks and any land it can to developers because it is so desperate for funds! Nothing to do with benefitting or enhancing the local area for the community. I live near the North Finchley leisure park, which we have loved and used extensively. It is absolutely scandalous that this is being sold off to developers, to construct monstrous high rise blocks of flats! We will lose the Cinema, the bowling alley, the Lido leisure centre etc but add even more people to create even more traffic and stress on local services which are already poor and stretched to the limit. Proposals to build more accomodation on the site of Finchley Memorial Hospital. Again a money making exercise! Not for the benefit of the local community. Over development causing again increased traffic and stress on local services. Over development built on land promised to be maintained as green space for the local community. The only objective of the council is to raise money and line their coffers. The whole situation is absolutely inexcusable and totally scandalous.

I do care about the development of our community and hope it is becoming much better in the future. It doesn't mean we accept over-development which harms our nice environment and neighborhood. Our voices must be heard before any big change. We care, and it is for the kids.

I've lived in North Finchley for six years. The road I live in is calm and peaceful, my neighbours are great and the current 'development' of the High Road is turning the area into one of poor quality retail and too many shops that look and sell the same things. Most of them appear empty for large parts of the day. To bring a cinema and blocks of flats into an already congested area shows the matter is not thought through. Behind all of this, seems to be a desire to get hold of the land where the Vue cinema currently is and turn that into a sprawling estate, then move the cinema and bowling alley down the road to a very small plot that is currently a car park. We need to be encouraging more businesses into the area that will meet the needs of the community.

We were lied to ! Miller homes were specifically asked about future developments on the land opposite and we were told by site managers and sales managers that there would be no further development as it’s “not allowed further than the village boundary signage “ we spent our life savings on this house based on that knowledge just 2 years ago When in fact millers must have know about this years ago as they had councils meets about it way Back then .my solicitors also told me through paid searches etc when I distinctly asked them about this .this will cause havoc on the dangerous and road situation here and there are no more school or doctors place and we still can’t get a dentist here after 2 years . It will also devalue our properties . Housing is needed where there is sustainable infrastructure and there is not here ! There is not even a bus on Sundays or Saturday nights in and out of the village .our kids have zero travel freedom on Sundays due to the lack of public transport . I support more housing even here in desford but without the services to support this will be a terrible or idea .
Dino supported: Stop Miller Homes' proposed Phase 2 Development in Desford
As a long term resident I am very concerned about this possibility. North end road and the surrounding streets are already experiencing anti social behaviour. If this is approved I can only imagine how much worse things can become. We might seriously start considering moving elsewhere when our mortgage term expires.
