We've seen the videos. The police chief started the violence. We saw an unidentified man push his way into a crowd of children and start grabbing kids, then put a girl into a choke hold. There was no reason to use this kind of excessive force. He should have been the one arrested. If I had been there, I would have reacted the same as those kids to defend her.
There is never a time that an adult, doesn’t matter who they are, should put their hands on a child to commit violence. As a parent, this enrages me, and should enrage the entire community. The Chief of Police holds a position of power - they must be held to a higher standard. A “resignation” should be the tip of the iceberg for this horrifying human being. If he is assaulting children, what other crimes does this man commit. He belongs in prison with the people he put away.
Years ago, I was an Assistant Circuit Attorney in St. Louis, and I worked exclusively on DV crimes for about a year. Someone who will choke another person, in front of their baby, no less, is only a heartbeat away from being a murderer. Courts need to hold abusers accountable.
The purpose of cops is to protect and serve. Holly Hunter Romero did NOT display aspects of protecting and serving when she was shoving around and screaming at a woman whos dog was actively DYING over a traffic violation. The officer also told this distressed woman who did everything to make her drive safe yet quick (for life saving purposes) that she did not care that her dog was dying. That’s disgusting. That’s inhumane. “Officer” Holly Hunter Romero does not deserve her job and many of the other things she has been blessed with.
