Cost of living crisis is making life hard for everyone but why should the people who are already struggling to get by suffer the most? My husband is disabled and although we do not receive ODSP funds, we know how expensive a disability can be. Barely scraping by and then suddenly hit with an emergency? Too bad you aren't a valued member of society. If we are judged by how we treat the most vulnerable members of our society, Ontario should be deeply ashamed.
I am ashamed to live in a place where disabled people are discriminated against in this way. Can we truly claim to have marriage equality when one demographic of people is punished so harshly for daring to get married? I don't think so.
The BC Disability spousal cap is honestly going to ruin our life. My girlfriend (we are common-law) has autism with low support needs but qualifies for disability. She struggles very much with working due to overstimulation and sensory issues, and even with my income and hers combined we barely make above the poverty line, but it's still too much for us to earn together as a couple. $19k per year for 2 people is disgusting and cruel.
I am in this situation. My spouse needs support , he can’t work and is denied any form of help to have some of his own independence. My income is stretched beyond limits , debts and stress trying to support him. He is an individual who deserves assistance and care. This system is broken and needs to be fixed.
Can’t afford proper optical, shoes, vaccines, some medications aren’t covered, and over the counter medication is covered either. Massage, physiotherapy, and other therapies cost so much out of pocket as MSP only covers $23, which makes these treatments impossible to use to get better.
