Victorias en Idaho

I am the mother of a teenage boy with severe nonverbal autism. This very situation terrifies me. Victor Perez did not have to die. The police reacted poorly which resulted in the murder of an innocent child. Law enforcement needs proper training to support and protect the autistic community. My only hope is that this awful tragedy brings forth change to the world so that people with disabilities can be safe. I also hope those officers are punished to the fullest extent of the law. #justiceforvictorperez

As a mom of a child with autism is frustrating and painful to belive that even when the autorities don't have appropiate training to deal with a person with autism, makes me sad and angry as we do well above what a regular parent had to, to keep our kids safe and is not fair. We need regulations for this to never happen again.

Why I Stand for Justice I am standing up and speaking out because my son—an autistic individual who is like Victor deserved understanding and care—he was subjected to unnecessary force and cruelty. What happened was preventable. It should of never have occurred, and yet, here we are, facing the consequences of actions that lacked compassion, reason, and humanity. This is about Victor and everyone affected by the brutal force that was done. It’s about every individual who has been failed by systems meant to protect them. It’s about ensuring that no other family experiences the heartbreak and injustice that Victor and his family is and will forever endure. Autism is not a crime. Neurodivergence should never be met with violence. And yet, too often, misunderstanding leads to harm instead of support. I refuse to let this go unanswered. I want accountability for Victor and every autism voice that will be heard thru Victor. I want change.More autism awarness. And more than anything, I want justice—not just for Victor but everu autistic person that faces this cruelty, but for every person who has been mistreated simply because the world refuses to see them with the dignity they deserve. Change starts with awareness. It begins when we speak up, when we demand better, when we refuse to accept that things must stay the way they are. That is why I stand for justice I want all them to pay those cops for what they did to Victor, I want them to be seen as what they are murders because they where not defending themselves, everyone who has an autism son or daughter we will not stay quiet, we are Victor we are his voice, you mess with one you mess with all, we demand justice.

I care so much Beacause I’m a mother with Autism I and cerebral palsy family too , this is so heart breaking … I can’t imagine this happening to my family is horrible they didn’t give Victor the opportunity to show his disabilities this wasn’t supposed to happen no need to shoot .. I have so much frustration why they shoot 15 times… we need Justice for Victor

To have shot a child nine times within twelve seconds of coming onto the scene and knowing he had autism is absolutely horrifying. De-escalation tactics could not have been used by officers in those twelve seconds. Those officers should be throughly investigated, taken off paid leave and have some sort of consequence. If no consequence is given at the VERY LEAST, implement REAL DE-ESCALATION TRAINING as well as Autism Awareness courses to your officers. Justice for Victor Perez🤍

I myself have been targeted by law enforcement who were unaware of how to handle an autistic suspect, resulting in a criminal conviction of a crime I didn't commit and multiple violations of my Miranda Rights in the process. It's important we have law enforcement who will respect someone's rights and allow them to exercise their 5th Amendment right, rather than trying to trigger a panic attack to force a confession under duress. I wish I was kidding, but this was my own lived experience, and it has impacted my life in ways that are near impossible to overcome. PLEASE bring in law enforcement that are more autistic aware, AND more neurodivergent aware. The neurodivergent community is one of the several communities targeted by law enforcement and discriminated against in jailhouses and prisons.

My son is 3 years old non-verbal level 3 autistic. This is one of my worst fears. We definitely need our men and women in blue more training.

I'm autistic and I have an autistic sibling. I am shocked and disgusted by this behavior. I pray for Victor's family and hope for change in this and all police departments.
