Like many of us, I am a one income household (I know many are on SSI as well). With the rising costs of goods, wages and income is not rising to meet these costs. I can understand and increase and had budgeted about a $50-$60 increase, but 20% makes this as unaffordable as a market priced apartment. We are not market price and should not be compared to that. In addition many members are not taking care of their homes and early fixes or multiple replacements have to be done because these residents are destroying things. We need to have more onus put on that type of resident. I understand co-ops are much like insurance in that it’s a pooled and shared expense but this is out of control.

During that time, we never raised housing charges by very much. They went up $50 for 2024 and now $140 for 2025. At the next board meeting I am going to demand an explanation for this travesty. The reasons better be good. If not, perhaps the membership should start a recall of the board.
I am mad, disturbed and appalled at this turn of events. I think that some of my fellow members will be forced to make difficult choices. Pay monthly housing charge or buy food or pay utility bills or buy medicine? No one who lives here should ever have to deal with that.
The affordability of this place will be gone if these proposed increases are allowed. An increase of $190 in two years. Something is wrong, out of whack.

I being a single parent and early retiree for medical reasons have lived here for 33 years and have never seen such an increase but just the opposite. The board members appointed in those earlier
years were for the members as a Co-OP and that was reflected in the low to no increase in the housing charges and during these years Stratford was still being maintained inside and out plus improvements were made to every unit as a whole. Upon obtaining membership here, HUD was in place. We no longer have that because we became financially independent. I thought at the time having HUD was kinda intrusive but I wish we had it back because of the accountability factor. Everyone had rules to follow, along with financial accounts. We have no such thing in place now. People are doing what benefits them.Yes! I can say how thankful Iam to live here but like I stated I have been a member many years longer than many and I have seen how well Stratford our Co-OP can be run for the sake of its members. Now what I hear and see is excuses why things are NOT being done or things repeatedly being redone year after year inspite of monthly charges being paid. Members who are handy have been doing a lot of their own work inside their units but for those who aren't ,have to rely on the Co-OP which is included in our housing charges. Life happens to us all so I of all people understand this but you still expect housing charges to be paid and I thank GOD overlooking my financial situation I'm able to still pay my share but I know others may have more of a struggle but that is why I live here because of the affordability and pride taken in our community. PLEASE, don't continue on this road of neglect for what is right, true and fair for our place of safety and rest we call home.

That's important to understand. We have always had expenses that come up yearly and roofs have been part of those now for years and staff expenses have been around before as well. So I don't understand this massive increase when the point of being a co-op is to keep our cost as low as possible and livable. We are not an apartment complex but it is felling alot more like one with changes like these. Please join us in tring to come up with a better increase then this one.

As a valued member of this community, I believe it is crucial that homeowners have a clear understanding of how their HOA fees are being utilized.
I support this petition and look forward to open dialogue between the homeowners and the HOA BoD.
