For 66 years Liverpool Street has been my gateway to family. I loved the earlier changes and the celebration it allowed of the concourse and roof.
Watching the board to see which service would take me home.
It is far more that just a station network rail, it is a beautiful and treasured staging post.
I worked in the station in the 90s, I thought the original plans included included uncovering some of the hotel architecture that was covered in the 90s makeover and the loss of the train shed is outrageous, surely you can't override listed status in the name of capitalism selling people more stuff in needless station shops
this would be devastating making more bland buildings instead of keeping this beautiful architecture
Surely there is room elsewhere for more soulless glass boxes. I used Liverpool St Station daily when I worked in London, and it us too precious to endanger. It's a shame that so many important public buildings (markets, stations) are being sacrificed by the very entities responsible for them.
