One of the most painful experiences of my life. Dr’s office said I’d just need to take a couple ibuprofen beforehand. It was horrible, the NP who supposedly specializes in peri and regular menopause couldn’t get it in after multiple attempts. Had to get a different Dr out of his own appointment to come put it in. Said I had a titled cervix or uterus. No one had ever mentioned it before. Had two children vaginally. Had horrible cramping and was bawling the entire 20 min drive home. Nothing helped until I took 1000mg of Tylenol which took 30 min to kick in after the horrible cramping started. I should have been offered SOME kind of pain relief and should have been warned how awful it could be. Absolutely nothing was expected, had no idea it would be so painful. Haven’t been back to the same dr because it was so awful. Gonna have to find a new one
My IUD insertion was one of the worst experiences of my life. I felt sick and faint from the pain, I struggled to stay still enough because all I wanted to do was get away. The pain didn't stop for months, and even seven months on it's often still there to varying degrees. I'm told it's not dislodged, but have no more information on why it's still so painful a lot of the time. I had an appointment recently to check it and all they offered was advice to alternate different painkillers through the day and a suggestion to try taking a mini pill in addition - the very thing I got the coil to avoid. They seemed reluctant to remove it and I was too tired and in too much pain to fight. I am left feeling like I have lost control and choice regarding my own body. I intend to try to book an appointment specifically for removal and hope to never go through this again. Though I am scared of the removal because of how painful insertion was.
Just had my IUD fitted and what an awful experience. This procedure is unnecessarily painful and traumatic, I felt faint and threw up afterwards due to the pain and stress, it is inhumane. I spent the entire day in pain and distress, it was the worst medical experience I have been through. I will not be replacing my IUD when it expires because of this, and there is such a simple solution, proper pain relief!
