God put the Jarawa people there 60,000 years ago. That's not India's land, that's their land! Leave them alone. They do not want or need to be "saved." If they have survived longer than most nations have been in existence, what makes the Indian government think they need any kind of assistance. The best way to help is to leave them alone and to close the road. The exploitation is absurd. You don't NEED the road there either. You can easily transport goods by boats or planes. You're exploiting humans and there rights as human beings. You're exposing them to disease, alcohol, tobacco, sugar and not to mention the poachers taking away their food source. Women are getting sexually assaulted and raped! Where's the human decency or the respect. It's sad that centuries later, people of African descent are still being mistreated. You're stripping away their identity little by little. People deserve to live as they want to live. No one has the right to decide that for them. If they wanted to modernize, they would've done it years ago. The Indian government, the U.N. and whomever else has their hands in this should be ashamed of themselves. I see you haven't tried this, again, with North Sentinel Island since they stand up for there land. If these tribes were lighter in skin tone, I don't think you would try this! This screams racism, classism and every other -ism!

I think this is a very common situation in care homes/long term facilities/supported housing/etc. I live in a facility, and we have an individual here like Eric. The staff used to take her down to the amenities room, and place her in front of the TV. Some staff don’t even put on a program that she would like, they just leave it on the news channel, and she watches the repeated news over and over. I usually put something on TV that she likes watching. Some staff don’t even take her to the amenities room, and I’m not sure if she has a TV in her room. I had something go missing, so I asked if I can have a camera in my room. I was told by the manager, we are not allowed to have cameras in our rooms/apartments because of staff privacy issues. In my opinion, I think this is absolutely BS. and that we should be able to have cameras for whatever reason we want. One of our other tenants here came from a long-term facility or a seniors home, and told us he did not even get showers once a week. He said it was how living in this particular facility where he came from, however, he does enjoy living in our facility as it is way better in his opinion. I feel there are many problems in facilities, such as having cooks who do not know who to cook and/or use ingredients. The whole system needs to be revamped, certain types of housing need to be made for certain types of needs, and in the revamping system, the involvement of residents that actually live in the facilities should be part of the process of developing a new models of housing. They should be part of the hiring process. Cooks should have to cook meals for a week before the residents decide if they like the food. Part of the problem is the union system, which we do need, but it also hinders a lot of things that go on in these facilities from bad executive directors, no recreation, housekeeping, care aides, nurses, etc. The right people aren’t hired for these positions either. What I mean by this is they don’t have the right qualifications to be in the position that they are in. A big problem is the budget as well.

I really want to see justice for Jamie in this situation. I hold on to hope that one day, it will happen for her. I am disappointed but not surprised by the Sarnia Police Service. There are many officers who have been charged, however, it seems like the vast majority of the charges are dropped or they are found innocent. While awaiting trial, they get to work other duties and still be paid, or are suspended with pay. The police are like a "brotherhood" and they never go against each other. Or if they do, it's extremely rare. I hope they do a real, honest criminal investigation into all of the SPS.
Pamela supported: All of sarnia and surrounding : Sarnia Police Service needs to be investigated and held accountable.
