FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) plays a crucial role in regulating energy markets and infrastructure in the United States. Recent trends show a growing concern over environmental impact, with petitions calling for stricter regulations on fossil fuel projects and greater emphasis on renewable energy sources. Key issues include the approval of controversial pipelines, the impact on marginalized communities, and the need for sustainable energy solutions. One petition with thousands of signatures urges FERC to prioritize renewable energy projects over fossil fuel expansion to combat climate change. Another petition highlights the dangers of pipeline construction on Indigenous lands, emphasizing the importance of respecting local communities and protecting natural resources.
