As a frequent visitor of Kauai and with family on the island, these markets are one of my favorite things to do when we’re there. These markets help bring tourists to Princeville and help the local economy for the participating vendors AND Princeville’s brick and mortars. The traffic issues are minimal especially when you look at other areas of the island like Kapaa. This is a positive use of the park as it brings a sense of community, which is what a park should do. The few voices that are opposed to the market are selfish and do not reflect the majority of the island residents and they also do not realize the good this market is actually doing for their business by bringing tourists to their brick and mortar.

I lived on Kaua’i for five years and owned a small restaurant for three of those years. Connecting with local vendors and growers is so valuable and the farmers markets were instrumental in networking with and building relationships with local producers. Through them, I was able to vastly increase the amount of locally produced food in my restaurant and feel more connected to the Aina. Please keep the farmers markets of Kaua’i strong and vital.

Every community can benefit from supporting local artisans and small business owners. Desirea has always spoken so highly of the community and culture that these markets have helped highlight. To prevent these markets would be a disservice to the local community and would only go to show how little you care for local small business and the Aloha culture. The very existence of such events is a cornerstone in many communities and people look forward to supporting others, shopping local or unique items and reconnecting with friends and family in a beautiful venue. Please continue to give your island the love and community that it deserves with a small meaningful connection to those who find joy in lending to support each other.

As someone who visits all four islands regularly for work, Kauai is a beautiful and peaceful place for me to simply relax. I've attended this market and know how much it means to the locals. A resolution must be found to continue it, and the majority of locals support its continuation. I add my voice to this call and know that positivity will prevail over the few who wish to stop the market.

The Farmers Market draws a great mix of locals and tourists as well always happy faces including my wife and I. I met and visited with David Crosby our last time there. He is gone now but saw him in concert back in California the next year before he passed. Keep the market open as a place to share aloha!!

The Aloha of Kaua’i is indeed dwindling down.. To shut down yet another place where we are able to get together with community and visitors and share smiles and local produce, arts, and foods, would be another sad example of that. Consider others needs above my own is how I live out Aloha.. I hope you will continue the Farmers market for years to come. I so enjoy it!

There has always been a great injustice in Hawaii since colonial times and this reeks of the same crime against locals and natives. Farmers markets drive the economy and bring a sense of community wherever they exist. Is it yet another story of wealthy aristocrats making the decisions for the majority?

As a proud supporter of Kauai’s local community, I believe the Princeville Farmers and Artist Market is more than just a place for commerce—it’s a vital hub for our island’s culture, creativity, and sustainability. This market allows small, locally run businesses to not only make a living but also share their talents, passions, and aloha spirit with residents and visitors alike. For many of these farmers and artisans, this market is a lifeline. It provides them with the opportunity to thrive in an economy that can be challenging for small businesses. From fresh, locally grown produce to handcrafted art and goods, these individuals pour their hearts into their work. Supporting them means supporting a healthier, more self-sufficient Kauai—one that honors its roots and preserves the traditions that make this island so unique. Beyond economics, this market plays a crucial role in fostering connection. It’s a place where locals and visitors can come together, learn about Hawaiian culture, and experience firsthand the creativity and resilience of our community. It keeps the spirit of aloha alive, showcasing the beauty of Kauai through food, art, and shared stories. Losing this market would mean losing an integral piece of what makes Kauai so special. By supporting this petition, we’re standing up for the farmers and artisans who work tirelessly to enrich our lives. We’re advocating for sustainability, culture, and community—a better future for Kauai, built by the people who call it home.

We were in Kauai for 16 days and enjoyed this market twice! We loved that the items are made locally. I rather spend my money to help a local business than from an abc store or something! I got some unique jewelry with shells from Kauai and we got some awesome carved pocket knives for my Idaho boys! We also got some yummy fruit. It would be such a shame to see this go away.
