Exercise is a crucial component of a healthy lifestyle, impacting physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. Recent trends show a growing emphasis on the importance of regular physical activity, especially amidst the challenges of sedentary lifestyles and the COVID-19 pandemic. Petitions in this topic focus on various issues, from promoting access to safe and affordable exercise opportunities to advocating for inclusive fitness spaces for people of all abilities.
One notable petition with thousands of signatures calls for funding and support for community sports programs in underserved areas, highlighting the unequal access to exercise facilities and resources. This would be A GREAT THING FOR THE YOUTH! When I was in high school I skated and absolutely loved it! It kept me out of trouble and it was cool skating. Please bring this to our little troubled town and let's give the kids something fun to learn and a way to come together! ❤️
The Williamsburg recreation Center provides a safe space for exercise for all ages. My husband and I have purchased annual memberships since the recreation center came into existence. In spite of Iowa’s harsh winters-we have place to get exercise. The facility is bursting with activity…and bursting at the seams. I am especially grateful for the strengthening classes but we are not always able to hold class because other groups need the space. ☹️. I want the rec center to continue to expand and serve the community for years to come. We know safe places to exercise with others is essential to health and wellbeing. Thanks to the rec center for this.
I have lived at the Lakes since 1987 and a resident of NV for 54 years. One of the amenities which attracted us to the Lakes Community were the beautiful greenbelts and walking path around the Lake. Unfortunately most all of the grass and beauty have neen destroyed and a landscape of rocks now occupy that space. The last grassy area on Crystal Water between Lake South and Lake North Way is now scheduled to be relandscaped with rocks. The sidewalk along this route is well travelled by those takibg their daily stroll along this beautiful path but also those who use this route daily to exercise their dogs. The sidewalk is narrow and many times we have to step into the grass to let other walkers pass. There must be thousands of dogs in this community...just in our little cul de sac of 7 homes, there are 7 dogs amd many families have more than one. Where do you expect the dogs to defecate if all the grass is removed...on the sidewalks. Belive me when I say these larger rocks the HOA used on the west side of Crystal Water Way and south side of Lake South are very difficult to traverse for people and dogs. And the heat absorbed and reflected during our hottest months is unbearable for plants, trees and any vegetation sewn there. The cooling from the watered grass and its aesthetic appeal is much preferred and added vakue to the homes in this area. LVVWD are you requiring homes in wealthier neighborhoods to deface their common areas in this way as well? I won't get into the issue of our water allotment that we give to CA which doesn't fill its reservoirs and lets excess water run into the ocean. All this to say I stronly protest the removal of this last vestige of green from our community, a big reason why many purchased homes here. We have enjoyed the beauty and escape from the desert along this path not to mention it is the last remaining grassy areas for the numerous canines in this area...the pathway will become unsanitary and impassable. Jus' sayin'!
We moved to this Area 5 years ago because of all the beautiful green in these neighborhoods.. it's a shame they think this is the move. We need more green in las vegas. The lakes attracts alot of families for the walks and bike rides. Please sign this petition 🙏
The green spaces were a major reason I initially chose to move to this area. As a mom, my daily walks with my kids along the grass slopes is a big part of our routine. My boys especially love running down these hills and our walks would not be the same without the grass.
The grass hills bring so much peace and solace to me and my family.
Every day, I watch neighbors enjoy the outdoors and dogs getting exercise and walked
This is the heart and lungs of my community- we must preserve it for generations to come
I walk the Lakes Loop multiple times a week. I love seeing hummingbirds sweep down to catch the gnats hovering over the grass. However, I do not like seeing the wasted water from the sprinklers. We need to do a better job about fitting the sprinklers so that they water the grass and not the pavement.
Please our neighborhood alone. You’ve taken enough. There’s just rocks everywhere now. Complete eyesore of what once was a beautiful neighborhood. Our sidewalks are completely stained with dog urine and feces now because, THERES NO MORE GRASS TO GO ON! Just stop already. Quit building houses, condos, strip malls, casinos, stadiums etc… if there’s such a water shortage. Leave the tax paying local citizens alone.
The remaining grass is not only beautiful, healthy for the environment and a great place for people and pets to sit out on, the value it adds to everybody’s home is inescapable! The remaining grass is very important to all of us that moved to this neighborhood, removing it would be a travesty!
KEEP THE REMAINING GRASS!!!
