Accountability and Justice. He should have been in jail after the first report of rape. I get harassed in this town way more than should be normal. You can see how women’s safety is not prioritized in this town by how blazing some of these men’s behavior is. They think they can get away with hell. We’re not having it anymore. Any police left after they clean house and whoever is hired on need better training in rape, assault, DV, mental health, addiction, and homelessness. Harassment and threats as well, which i have called them for and feel like I’m left dealing with on my own as I’m not given the appropriate resources. The things i have seen in my lifetime, not only from this police force, are so disappointing and sometimes horrifying. We demand better.
Amber unterstützt: Demand Accountability from Johnson City's Management and Police Department
My child is a student at ETSU. These young adults need all the assistance we can possibly give them to nurture them through college, adulthood, and the rest of their lives. Everyone deserves a safe space and help regardless of differences. We should be creating new spaces for people not taking them away.

By taking out these programs, you're denying your students access to being themselves. The least you could do is allow them a choice on whether or not to join in on these programs rather than taking them away. I've heard comments about how the pride center isn't relevant to learning. Neither is football. Neither is TPUSA or YSDA. Neither are the multiple frats and sororities, or the minsteries on campus. But the point of these are to offer ALL of your students a safe place to find community, somewhere they can enjoy themselves with a hobby, a place to be themselves and explore their opportunities. ETSU, Dr. Nolan, you're stripping this away and leaving several people without a chance to explore themselves to their fullest extent- which is arguably what college is about. On my first preview day, Dr. Nolan, you almost cried over having dropped your daughter off at college. A devastating yet joyouse moment, because you were proud of her and wanted her to flourish, but was scared to let her go. My mother was scared too, but namely because she didn't want me to be alone. It was the pride center that reassured her I wouldn't be, and what gave her the courage to let me go. Please, let these programs continue. Be there for your students. Let them choose who they want to be, because in the end there's truly nothing more beautiful than watching who is happy, healthy, flourishing, and a genuinely kind person be themselves.

Don't give in to the fascist felon wannabe king in the White House, pride centers are important for youth everywhere, for some queer kids it's the only place they can be themselves when they can't even talk to their own parents.

In my nearly 27 years of employment at ETSU, I was always interested in serving students, especially those who identified in marginalized communities. Women, people of Color, LQBTQ+, those with disabilities, veterans, Native Americans, people of different faiths. Diversity is core to who we are as Americans and as an educated society.

As a three time alumna of ETSU, mental health professional, and member of the LGBTQ+ community and a woman, I find this all infuriating. This is nothing more than share discrimination and desire to eliminate or make second class citizens individuals who not cisgender, white, heterosexual, scared men who afraid of losing their patriarchy. These two centers are vital places for students to come together to find support and community. Plus, these actions are unconstitutional and should have already been shut down.

Getting rid of the Pride Center makes it seem like ETSU doesn't care about the LGTBQ+ Community. It's one of our most safest places to go.

These are spaces where like-minded individuals can grow and thrive together. If it weren't for the people and workers I met here, I would have struggled much more in college. The people in these spaces are passionate and want to help better and strengthen our community on campus.

I am a 1973 graduate of ETSU. I certainly feel our State University should be open to ALL, and ALL should feel included, safe, and valued as a human being. I simply insist on it.

As an alumni of this university and academic I share ETSUs name with pride when asked about my Alma mater. I do not feel pride given this decision. I feel shame.
